Hi, how are you? That's fine. Me? I'm currently regretting quite a few of my choices. I just challenged the STRONGEST STUDENT IN THE ACADEMY to a fight. I rest in my room until the time Chrios set for the fight.

"Kathryn, come to the arena, please."

"OK! I got this!"

No you don't.

Shut up!

I grab the dual swords Chrios gave me, and step through the portal to the arena. Every seat in the stands is filled, and Dante stands on the opposite side of the area, smirking. I    slip the swords into their sheathes, and step forward. I notice the other guys standing at the edge of the ring, and I hear their conversation.

"Twenty bucks says Dante wins." Scott states. Luke, Leon, and Maureen agree with him.

"Thirty. On Kathryn." Deslin smiles at me and gives a thumbs-up.

"Deal. But get ready to lose."

I smile lightly and shake my head. Chrios steps onto the mic platform, and speaks.

"Alright, here are the rules. No fatal wounds, all types of magic are allowed, and the fight ends when one of you is unable to continue! Okay? BEGIN!" He poofs away, and I have a feeling he just made a bet on Dante.

Dante immediately dashes towards me, his giant sword in his left hand, and a ball of dark fire in his right. Time seems to slow when he gets near me, and I sidestep him. Time goes back to normal, and he goes sailing into the arena wall. I pick up on Leon's voice as I move to the middle of the arena.

"WHAT?! No one's ever dodged Dante's first attack before!"

Wait a minute, I can use this! Time slowed when he got near me, so if I constantly stay within range, I should be able to beat him! I pull my swords out of their sheathes, and run towards Dante. The crowd seems surprised at my move, but I ignore them. As soon as I'm within striking distance of Dante, time slows again. Easily catching him, I strike him about fifty times with each blade. Stepping out of range, time resumes, and two words escape my lips.

"Century Slashes."

The wounds I inflicted on Dante bleed profusely, and he falls to his knees.

"It seems the winner of this fight is-!"

"WAIT! I- I can still fight."

I walk over to Dante, who's struggling to stand up, and lift him by the collar.

"Listen. Unless you want to spend the next couple of months in the infirmary, you'll stay down after this."

I slam the butt of my sword into his stomach, and drop him. He groans in pain.

"As I was saying, the winner is KATHRYN LATHAM! Everyone please congratulate our new TOP STUDENT!"

I smile, while Deslin laughs at the others. I can hear him from here.

"HA! TOLD YOU! PAY UP, LOSERS!"

So, did you lose?

Nah, I kicked his ass in a hundred and one hits.

What?!

Meanwhile, near the academy of Glidos, at the Crag of the Chaos Lord......

"So, she's more powerful than Dante. What do you think of her, Herinth?"

Honestly, it's hard to believe she hasn't had any prior training. Also, is there a reason you're so fixated on this girl? Maybe, a crush, perhaps?

"Oh, shove it, you. And no! I do not have a crush on her!"

Your collection of pictures of her says different~.

"S-Shut up!"

I can feel my face heat up when Herinth brings up my collection.

I'm only messing with you, Katie.

I shake my head and close the rift view in the Crag. Soon, Kathryn Latham, you will regret ever accepting that egg...
