I sure hope this works, Arian.

It will. I think.

Again with the "I think"?

I don't know if they're that stupid!

I laugh. Our plan hinges on pure luck. If they don't buy it, we're screwed.

I carry Arian in my arms back to the three men. I stop in front of the one who spoke first, and speak.

"I'd like to apologize for my earlier behavior, and also propose a deal."

"Hmm. I'll accept your apology, and hear you out."

"Thank you. My proposal is that if you take both Arian and me to the academy, we'll never leave this town after we graduate."

He thinks for a minute, and his comrades whisper suggestions to him. He nods before, in a very lengthy explanation, saying he agrees. I smirk mentally, as does Arian. Bingo. I smile warmly while the normal sized man opens a portal. The five of us step through it, and I gasp quietly at the size of the academy. A multitude of dragons, ranging from basic Fire dragons to rare Shadow and Light dragons soar around the academy. Six of the dragons stop and fly down to where we are. A Shadow, a Fire, a Water, an Air, an Earth, and a Shadow-Fire hybrid, if I'm identifying them right.

When the six of the dragons land, six guys hop off of them. Taking a look at them, I can tell which ones are juniors of the academy, and which ones are closer to my age. The one that appears my age, 16, steps forward. A guy with inverted color hair steps up beside him.

"Hey, Chrios. Who's the girl?"

"This, Dante, is our newest student! And YOUR new dorm mate, Deslin! Meet Kathryn Latham, and her dragon-."

"Best friend."

"Of course. And her best friend, Arian."

"NEW STUDENT?! But she's a girl!"

"Nice!" The guy my age, Delson, I think Chrios said, steps up to me and offers his hand. I shake it, uneasy. "Name's Deslin, but everyone either calls me 'D' or Dez."

"Kathryn."

The guy with inverted hair scoffs. Deslin points his thumb at him, and laughs. "That white haired prick is my older brother, Dante. Back there," He points at the other four, "Are Scott, Maruen, Luke, and Leon."

"Good to know."

"So, what kind of dragon is Arian?"

"I don't know. What kind are you guys' dragons?"

"Mine's a Shadow dragon. His name's Eredos. Scott's, Ursuss, is a Fire dragon. Maruen's, Mezza, is a Water dragon. Luke's, Cyta, is an Air dragon. Leon's, Xyno, is an Earth, and Dante's, Airrad, is a Shadow-Fire hybrid."

"So I did identify them right. That's cool."

Chrios steps up to us after he's finished arguing with Dante, who looks pissed, and opens a new portal. I can see a room on the other side of it, and it's my favorite color: Midnight blue. I smile, and step through it. Once the tingling sensation passes, I look around the room, which I now see is absolutely fucking massive. I hear Chrios' muffled laughing, as well as Dante's sarcastic voice.

"Our rooms are that size due to our dragons not having anywhere else to sleep. We don't have the funds as a school to build stables for all 343 students' dragons. It'd just cost too much. Bigger than anything you've lived in, huh, girlie?"

"My name, you prick, is Kathryn. Get it right."

"You wanna fight?"

"Sure. Let's go. Here and now."

"Settle down. Remember, we have an arena, Dante."

"Right. You're right. Kathryn, if you really want to fight, we'll fight in the arena."

"Bring it."
