Books.

My floor is covered with them. Damn these expensive hardcover pieces of shit paper that cost $357 each for just a semester of class.

My laptop is open to a document of my English essay. Not the most fond of it, but it'll have to do.

I turn the page over slowly, skimming over the useless black words.

I try to read but I can't absorb a thing. I'll read a page, stare at it blankly for a bit, then question what I had just read. My mind feels full.

But isn't that the beauty of the brain? By that I mean it never gets full. Endless imagination, knowledge, and useless facts I know about hippos (more specifically that their milk is pink).

"Y/n they're here," Dodie yells from the hall, "Come say hi!"

I internally groan, not wanting to leave the comfort of my messy room and the pile of blankets surrounding me. It's been a couple days since the incident happened. Dodie had her friends over and honestly, they were quite loud and annoying. One even spilt some soda on the new carpet. I don't feel like meeting them again. I quietly get up and shut my door. Yes I might be a bit of an introvert today but I just don't feel like talking.

To be completely honest, I don't really get out of the house often. Only just for school and essential needs. I'm a pretty shy person in general. But Dodie is just a little opposite. She loves exploring, traveling, hanging out with friends, and going place to place enjoying herself. Other than Dodie, I might just have a couple other friends but they're always out and about. So I've learned to enjoy company with myself.

More pages, upon pages, upon pages of notes later I eventually start to get hungry. I check the time on my computer- 19:35. I've been working for hours now. I try to think, Maybe, if I wait a little longer, the guests can leave and then I'll eat then.

I smile at my cleaver plan. But before I can think again, my stomach yells with hunger. I sigh and begin to get up and open my door. Once my door is fully open, I mentally prepare myself, okay just go to the kitchen, get some pizza, and leave. Easy as that.

I speed out of my room and into the kitchen. Thankfully, I went unnoticed. Although, I was struck in defeat when I realized that the pizza wasn't in the kitchen. I️t was in the lounge.

I sigh (yet again) and grab a plate and head to the lounge.

"Look who finally decided to rise from the dead!" Sammy jokes.

"Well some people are trying to do school work in peace," I reply.

"We're doing work as well, you're not alone Y/n," Hazel says stuffing her face with a breadstick.

I look around at the floor and see the bags were closed, untouched books on the floor, and phones in their hands. "Yep, definitely," I say sarcastically. I grab a couple slices of (your choice) pizza and start to head for the door before I am stopped by a tall man in front of me.

"Oh sorry," he says, "Didn't mean to run into you."

I look up at him and our eyes click immediately. We know who we are in an instant.

He's the man at the coffee shop. "Oh it's you again," he smiles sweetly.

"Again?" Angie questions, "Have you two met in the past?"

We both stay silent while we just stare at each other. He was stunning, I physically could not take my eyes off him.

Hazel clears her throat, "Um well Y/n this is-"

"Daniel," I cut her off, "Daniel, right?"

"Ha! Since when is your name Daniel?" Jack laughs, "It's Dan."

"Don't be rude Jack," he says and looks back at me. God damn, those eyes will kill me one day. "My birth name is Daniel, I just go by Dan though."

"Oh well, I'm sorry," I quickly say. "No it's completely fine, I don't mind," he nods, "Were you going to join our study session?"

"He's the boring one, he's the one who actually wants to study," Sammy says.

"Got an exam tomorrow," Daniel says, finally looking away from me.

"I can't sorry, I have to," I stop mid sentence and see Dodie shaking her head towards me.

I quickly look over and see her mouthing the words, "Take a break".

I quickly think it over. Maybe I should take a break. "Actually, I might join tonight's group."

Daniel's face lights up, "Lovely, here have a seat."

He points to the seat next to him and smiles at me. I shuffle to the chair and plop down. Daniel sits next to me and even though I felt like an introvert, we began to talk the night away.
