pt 6

I woke up to the sounds of cars honking outside my window.

It wasn't the best way to wake up, but at least I woke up before it was noon. I stretched and flopped onto my other side then grabbing my phone to check the time: 7:36 am.

I groaned as I proceeded to scroll through my social media apps until I finally convinced myself to roll out of bed. I groan as I rub my heavy eyes and walk towards the restroom. I wash my face and brush my teeth, you know the usual wake-up-in-the-morning-routine.

I walk to the kitchen and turn on the green kettle. I grab my favorite mug and set it on the counter and pour the boiling hot water into the mug, and finally mixing my favorite drink into it. I walk towards our balcony and sit on one of the dark brown chairs we had sitting out there.

The world was truly beautiful. The trees were so lush, and who new that there could be so many different coloured flowers? Now that I can see without a filter, it's like the world is brand new. Almost like it was a dirty window until someone came in and wiped it down, creating a whole new world.

"Good morning."

I turn my head to see Dodie walking to the other balcony chair set up. I still have yet to tell her about what happened. People have just always teased us about becoming a couple. But no one really knows that Daniel and I are official. Today, Dan is out of town on vacation with his family. He has been for two weeks now but because of timezones and international texting limits, we haven't been in contact.

"Morning," I mumble in reply.

"So we don't have class, would you like to hang out together later today?" She asks.

I look at her with a curious face.

"Just us, no other friends," she says and my face lights up in reassurance. I smile and nod and turn to look back out of the balcony.

Hours later, Dodie and I decided to go out on the town. I can't wait until Dodie meets her soulmate, I wish I could just explain to her how beautiful it is seeing the world in it's true colors. We enter a farmers market and it booms of so many colors. Pink, blue, green, and red flag banners frame the top of the markets. Brown crates with colorful words stamped onto them hold dozens of fresh fruits and vegetables. After strolling through the wonderland, Dodie points out a familiar location.

"Coffee?" She smirks as I agree happily and speed walk towards it. When I walked in the place seemed vaguely familiar, it was the same coffee shop where I met him.

Before that, I said that I always liked the atmosphere of coffee shops. Now I love them. The comfort that the colors provide gives this place represents such a serene and welcoming place. The urban brown colors fit so well into the store.

Dodie comes back with two drinks, "Here you are."

"Thank you," I start, "You know I you didn't have to pay for my drink, right?"

"Yeah, I just thought it would be my treat, considering how rude my friends are to the apartment, and you," she frowns. I sweep the current conversation away and quickly bring up another topic. We spent 2 hours at that coffee shop, talking and sharing what has been going on in our lives lately. I hadn't had this time with Dodie in such a long time and I'm so glad we had the chance again.

After a couple more hours of messing around and laughing till our sides hurt we finally decided to go home and have a movie/study night. Although studying didn't really go down.

She pours us two glasses of white wine in some plastic glasses. A pizza box was half empty and textbooks were spread all over the floor. Since our last sofa broke from one of the legs given out, we've resorted to sitting on the floor. We start talking about random shit that have no relevance to our lives when we hear a knock at the door.

"I'll get it," I say my face slightly frowning as I set my glass down. I walk down the chilly hallway and open the front door.

"Hi stranger"

I look up and lock eyes with the most beautiful brown eyes I've ever locked eyes with. My eyes fill with tears as I wrap my arms around him.

"I've missed you," I say with my face stuffed into his chest. He doesn't say anything else, we stand there for a few more moments before finally letting go and him pressing his lips gently against mine.

"It was so boring without you," he smiles at me.

"Please, whats so boring about going on vacation?" I smile pulling him back into a kiss.

"Woah, um, PDA much?"

I turn around and see Dodie in her light pink and white stripped pajama shorts and a white tank top. Her chocolate brown hair was in a half up-half down due.

My smile disappears, I forgot to her about Dan and I.

"So how long have you guys been keeping this from me?" She jokingly asks, realizing the sudden uneasiness from our faces.

We both chuckle awkwardly as I tell her everything from the very beginning. The coffee shop, the study session, the beach. She's completely in captured by our story.

"It's like it came out of a fucking Disney movie," she laughs at her tipsy comment.

I chuckle, but agree. I couldn't believe that I finally had someone to show me the light- and literally the color of the world. I've never felt this way before and I never wanted it to end.

We spent the rest of the night with more greasy pizza and getting more and more tipsy as the night went on. It got into the wee hours of the night when Dodie had finally passed out half way while watching 21 Jumpstreet. My eyes got heavy as my head fell on Dan's chest. He kissed me lightly on the top of the head. I think he figured I fell asleep on him because he said something I will never forget.

"I love you"
