The meeting and the bumpy truck

The next day was pretty much the same as the last, but there was no Andrew on the bus. I went to work and had the same greeting with Sarah, I went upstairs to my cubicle were Alex was waiting for me,
"Happy Board meeting day" Alex said while holding a cupcake with a brightly lit candle on top,
"wait what's this for?" I asked,
"Remember, we promised each other if one of us ever got a meeting with the board we would celebrate with a cupcake, so here" Alex said,
"It's kind of in the name" Alex said,
He walked over to me and gave me this explosion of colour.
"Wait a second you seem sad and on your big meeting day of all days, oh did your night in shining armour not meet you today?" Alex asked meanly,
"He's not my night in shining armour Alex, and for your information no he didn't" I said sadly. The phone at my desk started ringing, "it's time" Alex squealed, I picked up the phone
"The board is waiting for you upstairs, Miss Sarehs" Maryanne said.

So I left my cubicle, and walked up the stairs to the 7th floor, I've walked up those stairs a thousand times, but this time it felt like I couldn't breathe. I walked into the massive glass cube and stood in front of the long table,
"Good morning, miss Sarehs" one of the board members said,
"Good morning, writing board" I said scared,
"Today we will be asking a few questions about your book, if that's ok"
The woman asked,
"Yes, absolutely" I said,
"So, all the members of the board have read your book, but so we can get some insight, how would you sum up the book" a man asked
"Well, it's about a tribe of people living on house boats on a sea of spirits, after living there for years a mystery starts, when people in there tribe start dying" I told them,
"Do you see any similarities.  between the book and your own life?" A woman asked,
"Well, maybe the, wait never mind no" I said,
"Miss sarehs, we will decide your fate of you going to London and publishing your book under the wing of a one mystery writer or stay here and keep on working for writer's block. We will tell you what we've decided at the end of the month" a man said,
"You can leave now, have an early
break" a woman told me,
Then i left the meeting room.

I walked down the stairs to my cubicle and went in,
"So how'd it go" Alex asked,
"They said they would get back to me" I said,
"Well, at least they didn't say no" he said,
"Yes, but they didn't say yes either" I told him in disappointment,
"I was told I could have an early break so I might go home for a few hours" I told Alex ,
"See you later" i said,
"See you" Alex said,

So I left writer's block, and walked down the street to the bakery next to the shopping centre, I walked inside went up to the counter and asked for a slice of rocky road, "that's $5.99" the serving person said, then I handed her my money and went outside and sat down on a bench. I started eating my thick slice of rocky road, when an old, rusty truck beeped it's horn at me, it parked in front of the bakery, and Andrew got out of the truck and walked up to me, "Hi how's your day going?" He asked,
"Yeah pretty good I'm just eating some rocky road , how's your's been?" I asked,
"Good I just picked up my sister's old truck, she let me have it" Andrew said,
"Oh, that's cool" I said,
"Did you want to drive?"
He asked,
"Yes please, I've never driven before though" I said,
"That's fine, I'll teach you" he said.

So we got in the truck and he taught me everything he knew I didn't drive because I didn't have a license,but he drove me back to work and before I got out he asked me "did you maybe want to go out to the movies tomorrow?",
"Wait your asking me out?" I asked confused,
"Yes, your a girl I'm a guy would it really be the end of the world?" He asked,
"Sure, what did you want to go see?" I asked,
"What about justice league and we go to Hoyt's cinema at 3:00PM?" He asked,
"That sounds good, see you tomorrow" I said,
So i got out of the truck and was about to walk inside when Andrew rolled down his window and shouted out go Lillie then I walked inside and worked in my department for a few hours than I went home had dinner and went to bed.
