Chapter 13

My stomach turned to a hunk of ice and my feet rooted to the spot. He was wearing a mask to hide his identity but I knew it was him. My mind was reeling as my feet started to move towards him. My sister tried to hold me back but I ripped out of her grasp and before she could stop me I was by his side.

"Hey asshole." I screamed. He looked at me and his eyes went wide. Before I knew what I was doing my hand connected with his face, a smack sounding in my ears. He held his cheek in pain and I smiled a little victorious smile. The girl he was with just stared at me, a horrified look on her face, but she didn't make a move to defend JR,

"Have a nice day JR. I hope you two have fun. When you want to explain what the fuck you're doing, call me." I said. I walked away and back to where my sister and Kiara were standing. They both had shocked looks on their faces.

"Kinzie that was amazing. You handled that like a boss." Kiara said finally, high fiving me as we walked away. I smiled but the shock of the situation started to wear of and I could feel an ache in my gut. I was quiet the whole car ride home.

I heard a knock on the door at eleven that night and when I opened the door JR was standing there.

"Kinzie let me explain." He pleaded. I nodded him in and sat down on the couch.

"Explain." I said coldly. He just looked at his feet and let a few tears slip, "if you're going to sit there then I'm going back to bed."

"Kinzie I'm so sorry. I can't come up with an excuse for why I cheated, but I am truly sorry. I feel terrible. Kinzie please forgive me." I laughed and rolled my eyes.

"If you really felt that bad about it, you wouldn't have done it in the first place." He closed his eyes and started to breathe through his nose. I could tell that was not the answer he wanted.

"Kinzie, please. It won't happen again. I promise. Please give me another chance." He knelt down so he was eye level with me, "please." I shook my head.

"No JR. I have been hurt worse than this before for giving too many chances. I'm sorry but were done. Maybe you can date the girl you were with today." His eyes blazed and he grabbed my wrists, squeezing them together harshly.

"Kinzie in not gonna ask again, forgive me. You need to forget about this." I winced as bruises started to form where his fingers were digging. I tried to get free but he tightened his grip.

"Get off of me you prick. You're hurting me." He clenched his teeth and let go. When I thought he was going to leave the back of his hand connected with my face, sending me falling to the floor. He turned to the fireplace and punched the wall. I took this as a chance to run before he hurt me anymore.

"I won't let you hurt me. We're through JR, and if you ever touch me again I will not hesitate to kill you." I ran out the door and slammed it before he could follow me. I ran and ran and ran, my legs not stopping even though I was tired. I didn't know where to go, so I went to the only place I could think of. SHINee's house.

"Open up." I demanded as I pounded on the door. There was no answer and I could hear yelling getting closer and closer. I pounded harder and didn't stop until the door swooshed open to reveal Taemin standing there. He looked surprised to see me but I didn't care. I saw JR quickly getting closer and closer to where I was so I hurried inside and slammed the door, locking it quickly. Taemin found his voice as I paced around the living room.

"What the hell Kinzie?" He said, anger and worry etched in his voice. I rubbed my wrists gingerly, sucking in through my teeth as I hit the tender skin.

"I'm sorry I came here. I just didn't know where else to go. He was chasing me and I couldn't run any longer." Realization hit Taemin and I could see his eyes blaze in anger.
