Someone asked me why I love literature
And I didn't know how to tell them,
that reading meant
words from hundreds of years ago could settle in my ears,
echoes from people who'll never know me
but will empathize with my pain.
That I could look back in history to see
not just famous faces,
but familiar eyes of friends whose words I've memorized and made a part of my soul.
That I plan...wish
to do the same for others.
So instead, I smiled and said "Reading is fun."
