(A/N...)

This is heavily inspired off of a discontinued comic called Sonic the Hedgehog Mobius Chronicles. I despised how the author decided to end it, so I myself, decided to make my version of the story. But completely different, of course.

Now, on with it!

([Third Person]...)

In a chair sat the heinous scientist. Typing the night away on his database, he had been at it for months on end. Finding a way to rid of the rigid hedgehog, Sonic. Years on end did he always find a way to stop him, he was enraged.

With every humiliating defeat, pushed him harder. He was going to prevail, it was his destiny to win. He listened to no one, not even his own henchmen, Orbot and Cubot. They were nothing but dunces anyways.

But now... oh, ho, ho...

He had a weapon. He remembered it like yesterday...

His past months were put into finding a toxin that was so very lethal. He went through his grandfather's books looking for such a thing. Time and time again, he researched this aspect.

The pages were stained and were difficult to read, but it was enough information to fulfill the doctor's mind. He could find a dose of it found in the reaches of Soleanna, the Dusty Desert. And so he went off to the dry landscapes to search for it. Bringing along his grandfather's book, Metal Sonic, and a whole pack of Egg Pawns, they were ready to begin the search.

His grandfather's research stated the substance to be found in the ruins. Cliché. Must everything reside in an ancient location? He wouldn't be complaining once he got his filthy hands on it.

They traversed below ground, where the atmosphere was stiff and the air was thin. Light shot out from the exit, but with every step they took was a step towards darkness. The meaning is literal.

"Lights!" He commanded. The blue doppelgänger's irises flickered a tint of crimson before fully shining at max capacity. The doctor had also installed a set of lights inside his arms; his wrists opened and a pair of lights shot out. The Egg Pawns reacted to the command just as well, a pair of lights shooting out from their sides.

"Camera!" Eggman's smirk expanded as he reclined in his Egg Mobile. Slamming a button that caused a bag of kettle corn to appear.

What? You'd be hungry after traveling out there.

"Annnd... ACTION!" He pointed forwards. His voice escaped with such force that it must've acted like an invisible pinball. Luckily, it was only sound waves. Metal's hands transformed to a pair of drills, looking almost like the certain Drill Wisp for hands. The Egg Pawns did the same as they scrambled across the dark room, digging into the walls or ground.

Eggman watched and supervised from his vehicle, all the while, eating away at his snack. It was a satisfying sight, watching them cut away at the sandstone and rock like it was butter.

But as it went on, everything seemed so slow, as if they weren't doing but a thing. Sweat trickled down his face, was he anxious? A mysterious feeling was in his enlarged gut, defining mysterious as unsure.

"Rgh..." His hiss rose like a snake. As the Egg Pawns were hard at work, Metal picked up his worry. The blue robot had much more development than the other robots he's made in the past, unlike his "trusty" companions. So forth, he knew emotions.
