A few years ago, the Elder Gods had summoned Raiden for a counsel. They had informed him that there was a goddess, stronger than them, and they had taken them as their new ruler. Raiden at first had been puzzled; why would they need a guiding voice? But then, they told him about her past.
They told him that this person had suffered and endured through many hardships, and even showed him her whole life story through her own eyes.
After seeing this, he had faith that she would be an excellent ruler.

It was 3 o'clock when Raiden visited Evie.
At first, he had anticipated that she would be asleep, and he would greet and surprise her in the morning, but he found out that he was wrong.
Evie was in a little room in the far corner of her house. She was busy punching the bag and was focused on what she was doing that she didn't notice Raiden entering the room. When she finally noticed him, she screamed a little.
When she got into a defensive position, Raiden raised his hands in a friendly gesture. "I mean you no harm, Evangelina."
She lowered her arms and grumbled, "It's Evie. No one calls me that." She looked up. "Good to see you back to normal. And awake."
Raiden nodded. "I however didn't come in to simply say 'hi'. I have a few questions to ask you. About the tournament."
At the mention of the tournament, Evie's expression darkened. "Let's go to the living room. I'll make some hot chocolate."

"So, let me get this straight. You participated in the tournament solely to try to take me down, and opened yourself up to my kombatants. Then, you were backstabbed before you could explain your actions."
Evie nodded. "Sounds about right." She was staring into the fire that was lit in the fireplace as she took a long drink from her mug.
Raiden sighed. Now for the hard part.
"I was tracing your bloodline, and found that your father had an affair with your mother in a travel to Japan. They had a son, the boy you were given in that well. You have a half-brother. I know who he is. You met in the tournament."
Evie sighed as well. "Who?"
"Scorpion, aka Hanzo Hassashi."
Evie spat out the hot chocolate in her mouth.
Raiden continued to speak, hoping to get the conversation over with. "Do you know the true identity of your husband?"
Evie stood up. "EX-husband. Extra emphasis on the 'ex'. And no, I actually don't know. What does it matter anyways? He was a lying bitch. He pretended to love me for three years, and then went on to cheat on me with another. He was in that other relationship for five years. Asshole. Next thing your going to be saying is that he was also one of your kombatants."
Raiden nodded.
Evie held her head in her hands. "Do I even want to know?"
"Your husband is Kuai Liang. You never divorced him, you know."
"He never signed the damn papers," Evie growled.
She sighed. This day had just gotten a whole lot worse. And she was so tired. Her hands started to shake. She started to convulse. She fell to the ground and started to twitch. All the whole, Raiden was shaking her shoulders and shouting her name as she fainted.
And then she opened them again, screaming.
Raiden jumped backwards in surprise. Over time, Evie calmed down, and started to speak.
"One of my added powers is the ability to read into the future. I saw the Special Forces base. And I saw an attack. Leading it, I could see my family. And beside them, I saw a wraith clothed in shadows. I also saw other people who were once pure souls, but somehow, they were tainted. A result after they died, perhaps?" She looked up from the floor to Raiden.
"I believe that the wraith you described is Noob Saibot. And these other people are the revenants of Earthrealm. They were once friends of ours. But during the invasion of Shao Kahn, they died. If what you say is true, we have no where else to go. They will know where we go I'd we go to either the Lin Kuei or Shirai Ryu temples, or even the White Lotus temple." He looked at her pointedly.
Evie raised her eyebrows. "And... what does this have to do with me?"
Raiden sighed. "I wanted to ask you if you would shelter us for the time being."
Evie burst out. "Oh, fuck no! I'm done, alright? I've put all of this goddamn shit behind me. I'm. Fucking. Done."
Evie was about to continue arguing when she thought of something and stopped mid-sentence. She suddenly and unexpectedly grinned. "Never mind. I'm going to wing it. No more hiding."
