Evie couldn't breathe. She tried to resurface, but something was holding her down. She eventually closed her eyes and everything went black.

And opened them again.

Evie was standing in front of her temple. It was in flames. Decorated in the building were corpses of her clan. They looked mutilated, and burnt. She looked in horror as she saw the revenants emerge from the flaming wreckage. They were dragging someone behind them. Her apprentice, Kibo.

"Grandmaster, don't listen to them. You need to run!" Noob Saibot sliced a knife across his neck, silencing her student. Evie fell to her knees. She couldn't do anything. The undead kombatants only continued to walk fowards. And then, someone grabbed her head with metal hands and twisted it around 180 degrees.

Evie woke up spitting out sand. She gasped for air and heaved. She crawled closer to the tree line of the island and slumped over, struggling to breathe. After regaining her composure, she stood up on shaking legs. She knew where the revenants were going.

She took in her surroundings. She was apparently on some strange island, so small that she could walk around it in about two hours. She scanned the land for the other Grandmasters that she had shoved off the cliff.

Nobody.

Evie actually hoped that the ninjas had made it through okay. She checked her comm to find it soaking wet. She tried to communicate with the others, hoping that she could contact them telepathically, but the location was hindering her link. Frustrated, she punched a nearby palm tree. She was weak and drained of power. She would have to rest, and then make a decision. She could either try to contact the other Earthrealmers, and leave her clan to defend for themselves, or she could go to the temple herself and drive them off.

She shouted in anger. Either way, she was fucked. If she didn't contact the others, it would look like she betrayed them. However, her clan, her family, would die. She fell to the ground sobbing. And then, the markings on her body lifted from her and into the air, taking a physical form. They enveloped her in hugs and gentle gestures, comforting her.

If you are never going to be happy, make things so that others do not share your fate.

She laid down against a tree and closed her eyes, already making her decision. There were no nightmares that night.

Evie got up the next morning and proceeded to stretch out, testing to see how she was doing emotionally, physically, and mentally. Satisfied that she was now back to her full potential, she drew a circle midair with her hands, creating a temporary portal. She hesitated, and then charged full force through it.

As she was falling, Evie heard screams in her head. It deafened her, and felt like her head was splitting apart. She covered her ears, and tried to block out the noises, without success. When her feet finally made contact with the ground, she stood up, and cried out in despair.

Her vision had already become a reality. The temple already in flames, she saw the revenants standing at what had been the entrance of the Sae-Beong temple, waiting. There was no Kibo. Evie walked towards them, glaring, expressing her hatred.

Then, the two sides charged at each other.

"We've lost contact with the Diamond Direwolf and the rest of her team." Fujin was staring at Raiden worriedly. Raiden was pacing back and forth. He contacted everyone through the comm links. "Everyone, the Diamond Direwolf has turned against us. We must go to the White Lotus Temple. I believe that the revenants will attempt an attack there."

Evie howled in anger as she lashed out with her single whip in one hand, Archangel in the other. The animals had once again assumed their physical forms and were laying waste to the enemy. She eventually was able to defeat every being there, but at a price. She was exhausted, and her energy was running short. Normally, gods would be given a token that gave them unlimited power, but she never had the time to be linked to one. Then, she saw something that made her freeze in fear.

Stepping out of the ruins of the temple was another revenant. He had metal arms (Jax, as she remembered). He had something in his hands. An amulet.

"NO!!!" Evie screamed. Jax crushed the trinket, releasing a wave of negative energy. The energy was not meant for her, but rather...

Her father emerged from the hidden shadows, flexing his arms. He looked at his daughter with blank eyes and grinned. Behind him came Evie's sisters, each relishing the added strength. Her father, Abaddon, smirked. "Now it's a party."
