It was night when the attack started.

Raiden was struggling against the Netherrealm forces alongside his fellow warriors, trying to push them back, but their attempts were futile. When he finally acknowledged this, Raiden called out, "Retreat to the portal!"

Frantically, everyone fled to the portal in the Special Forces base. Raiden had preset the coordinates to the Sae Beong temple that Evie provided him with last night. Sonya paused at the console. "Wait. Coordinates have already been entered-"

Raiden cut her off by shoving her through the portal, along with everyone else. Then, he jumped in, destroying the portal in the process.

"Fucking fantastic." Johnny Cage was pissed. Everyone was wounded in some way, and they were in the middle of freaking nowhere! Hell, he had been punched in the face more times than he could count during that fight. He looked around.

Takeda was burned due to Liu Kang, Kung Jin had cuts from Kung Lao's hat, Cassie was bleeding profusely from Kitana's attack, and Jacqui was pulling a green arrow out of her calf, courtesy of Nightwolf.

Scorpion had attempted to fight off Kabal and Sindel at the same time, but was overwhelmed. Sub-Zero also had a tough time against Smoke (or Enenra) and his brother, Noob. Sonya had valiantly tried to attack Stryker, and eventually emerged victorious, but had suffered many broken limbs in the fight. Johnny was fighting Jade at the time, and Raiden and Fujin had teamed up against the newer threats, Evangelina's dad and sisters, but they were too powerful.

Johnny was confused to see the newer three wraiths there. He thought they had got their revenge when Evangelina died. Shouldn't they have been at rest?

Raiden was confused. He was looking around for something. He kept muttering, "She said it was here." Over and over again. Before Johnny could question him, someone whistled.

Raiden turned around. On a hill not so far behind us was a figure. It was a teenage boy. "Grandmaster Evie said to follow me!" He shouted this to us.

Raiden turned to the exhausted group. "We can rest once we have reached our sanctuary. Come!"

The fighters had finally reached the unknown temple when they were transported in on stretchers. Raiden went to greet and thank the Grandmaster and paused.

Evie was wearing a suit of armor, uncustomary for women. The suit was silver, made of some type of light-metal alloy. The torso portion of the armor had a singular triangle plating design of a darker shade of silver that traveled from her neck to her waist. The same design was imprinted on the back, tracing her spine. The top's sleeves were also cropped at her upper arms.

Her lower arms were made of some mineral. It shone like a diamond, but Raiden could see that this was not real diamond. It was something more ancient, more powerful. And he could see markings. On her right arm were feathers on fire that traveled to her wrists. On her left, the body of a snake, its head on the back of her hand.

Her long pants were made of the same metal as her top, but had the same dark triangular design on the sides of her legs. On her belt, there were two guns in holsters in the back, a whip on her right hip, and a big dagger on the left. On the outer and inner sides of her thighs and calves, she had smaller knives that were intended for throwing. On her back, Archangel was strapped there in its scabbard.

Her combat boots were also made of the same metal as the rest of her suit. They had extra clips for her guns on the sides.

"The weapons and my arms are made of Starmetal, a mineral capable of killing gods. My suit is made of a light weight metal that the Elder Gods supplied me with." Evie smirked a bitter smile from the top of her throne. "Welcome to the Sae Beong temple."

Raiden wished he could change her smirk into an actual smile. But that would come later. Instead, he bowed. "Evie," he acknowledged, standing up.
