Oh, those bitter sweet memories. . .why do they choose to haunt me?All those thousands of years ago, l was happy. But now, l'm as depressed as l've ever been.
My tear-stained face resting upon the table, the table of tens upon tens of wine bottles, l closed my eyes, ignoring the wave of nausea trying to set in. I was alone, and for a reason. I didn't want to be seen like this. . .not with the loss of my glamour cover-up, blood-shot eyes, body slouched over onto the table, bottles of wine spilt, now dripping on the floor. No one would ever see me like this. It would lower my self-esteem, demeanour, confidence, bringing shame unto myself. . .
And even after the death of my wife, l thought it couldn't get any worse. But oh, was l wrong. After l had sent Legolas as a messenger to inform the Council Of Elrond that Gollum had escaped from my dungeons, l never saw him again. I was apprised that he had joined a Fellowship, and after, sailed West, to the Grey Havens. . . .accompanied with a Dwarf.
"Dwarvish filth." I spat to myself, disgusted at how such a creature could bribe my only child into sailing away with him. How did they allow it? Or was it that Legolas had snuck him into there? What a dreadful boy.
I heard light, faint footsteps approaching the door to the room l was sitting in. If this person had enough sense, they would leave me alone. Disturbing the King was a punishable offence. But they didn't stop, coming closer, and closer and closer. . . .they stopped.
A soft sound of knuckles tapping against the wooden door filled my sensitive ears.
I looked up upon seeing the door opening, watching the light pour into the darkness. I felt my blood boil with abhorrent rage. How dare they. I opened my mouth, ready to give them a piece of my mind. That was until l saw the lithe figure, and warm smile. .

Galion.I felt my body flood with desolation, resting my head upon the table before he could watch the tears spill over.
He came up to me and rested a hand of assurance on my arm,
"Mellonamin. . ." ((My Friend)), "Do not weep. Raise your head, remain strong." He invigorated, pulling away the glass l held weakly in my hand."Your People need you. It has been days since you were last seen, and the Kingdom are worried, to say the least. Come, bathe in salts of the Misty Mountains. They are renowned for bringing relief." His voice was so soothing, like a song to my ears.
I felt his hand travel from my arm, to my shoulder, then my chin.
I allowed Galion to raise my head using his fingers underneath my chin. My blank, dull devastated gaze shifted to his, momentarily, before returning to stare, almost lifelessly, at the cold, stone walls. I gathered myself together, unable to improve upon my disheveled appearance, and stood to my feet.
"Take me along where l will not be seen. Not yet anyway, they do not deserve such a dreadful, arrogant King such as me. They all say they love me, but love is hardly the appropriate word to use. Tolerate, is the word in which they are all looking for." I ordered, though, it sounded as weak as a newborn kitten, mewling for it's mother's nurture, which, truly, is what l needed right now.
From anyone.
I received a nod from Galion, his hand taking mine, as to both help me see in the dark, for my left eye had now turned a blind eye, the tissue and muscle of my wound visible, and to help himself feel as if he was doing the right for his King.
