(Lotus's Blossom)
I was kneeling on the floor finishing one of my latest paintings, one of two birds calling out to each other.
it was nearly complete, just one last touch.
I made the last stroke with my brush, The small lotus flower in the corner, my signature of course.
I smiled, examining my work, a beautiful piece indeed.
My gaze found it's way to my large window. It was later in the day, the sunset had begun to stream in through the glass. Creeping it's way along the tatami flooring, until it reaches me. Resting itself on my floral kimono.
Coming back to Japan all those years ago was a good decision. It's very Calm and peaceful here. Relaxing. It just feels right.
Plus employers here appreciate the value of a female ninja much better here, Higher profits and respect can be good motivation to cross continents.
Although I do often miss life in America... and my thoughts often drift back to memories of 4 strange reptilian acquaintances, and even more often to one of them in particular.
The only Ninja to ever match me in Katanas.
But that is in the past, and right now, I must prepare some tea.
I got up and was about to enter my little kitchen, the phone began to ring. I walked over to the phone letting it ring a few more times, wondering who it could be, before picking up.
"Hello?" I began
"Is this the one they call Lotus Blossom?" Came a cold, uninviting voice.
Suprisingly The voice was speaking English.
Well, No need for subtitles.
"Who wants to know?"
I questioned the stranger, the English feeling slightly odd to my mouth.
"I will take that as a yes."
The voice replied smugly before continuing...
"Who I am is none of your concern Female, until you fulfill the task I request of you."
A task? What kind of task could this Anonymous Person possible want?.
Well, A jobs a job, my interest peaked.
"What kind of task?"
I inquired
"Your reputation proceeds you my dear Flower, I've heard of your associations and battles with the vermin known as The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Yes, you were working for Krang at the time, but I won't hold that against you."
The stranger chuckled at that last line.
"Now, what I ask of you is very simple. All you have to do is track down the Turtles and Lure them out of hiding, wherever they me be, out and into the open, After that, your job is done. That is all I ask of you. Very very easy." The male sounding voice finished.
"The Turtles are in hiding?!? Surely you jest!'
I laughed at the utter ridiculousy of the thought.
The man briefly explained how the city of New York No longer trusts mutants of any kind.
"Lord Dregg."
I announced as I finally put together the identify of my latest prospective employer.
"You are good.''
The alien replied.
"My reputation is not the only one that proceeds."
I informed him.
So Lord Dregg wishes my services?
Word on The street is that he's completely insane.
But then again Sanity isn't something villains on this show tend to have.
The Turtles?
I have not seen them for so long. 4 years now, This is indeed may be very interesting. But first, my services do not come cheap.
"Yes the job sounds simple enough, but what about my fee?"
"Ah yes, and for that how does 1.5 million American dollars sound to you?"
I was almost to stunned to answer!
1.5 MILLION American dollars?!?
"Thats alot of money for the 90's!"
I broke the 4th wall, covering the phone with my hand, so Lord Dregg wouldn't hear.
"It's done. But how am I sure I'll get my pay?" I asked, suspicious.
"You will get your money when you have finished the job. I will be watching and waiting. So DON'T disappoint me. I will expect you to be in NYC by tomorrow."
And with that he hung up.
1.5 million... Well there's no time to waste. I must get to NYC as soon as possible. The the thoughts of 1.5 ran through my head, greed was always my sin.
I slipped into my bedroom. There, along one of the far walls, was something special.
I stopped and stood before it. I lifted my hand up to a small concealed latch. My fingers connected with it, I begin to push open the hidden door.
There in the dimly lit secret compartment, hanging neatly before me was my suit and my sword.
I reached up and dragged my fingers across the grey soft fabric, I closed my eyes and smiled. Old memories starting to flood back.
As I began packing I kept trying to reassure myself that my excitement was purely for the giant amount of cash I was going to earn.
But secretly, though I'd never admit it, not even to myself, it was the thought of seeing him again....
