The Inevitable

Zeus marched into the endless meeting room with a furious expression on his face, irritation oozing from his eyes as he flew towards the long solid gold table, causing the other gods to look at each other with wide, questioning eyes.

The surrounding room was boundless, gold statues scattered against the tall white Greek columns. Outside the round room showed a sky filled with floating white clouds. 

The gods all sat in their gold, silver or gem thrones awaiting an explanation for the meeting, most were very busy in their personal lives and only gathered when there was a need for a trial or the announcement of urgent news. Zeus's expression confirmed  it was the latter.

The King of Gods sat down on his gold throne looking at the three gods to his left and then facing the four gods to his right. He look a deep breath to calm himself before starting.

' How long has it been since your visits to earth?' Zeus asked the gods as he placed his chin on his knuckles.

Silence filled the room.

Ares impatiently tapped the table with his index finger as an uneasy feeling filled the air. The echo of the sound  accompanied the long pause of silence.

Finally, he snapped.

'Brother. Get to the point. Some of us are extremely busy.'

Zeus whipped his head towards his older brother, dominance churned in his stomach as his anger grew.

' With what? Bedding women?!?' Zeus yelled, his power thickening the air near his skin like static.

' I SHOULD CUT.. '

' Father!' Hermes interrupted, sending a apologetic glance at his enraged uncle' What is the news?'

' I have been informed by the Korean land fae that our ... that demi-gods live among them' Zeus said, and waited for the uproar. As he expected all started yelling at him all at once.

' Our children? When was this? Whose is it?' Athena seriously asked Zeus in panic.

' WHERE? WHERE IS MY CHILD?' yelled Ares as he stood up dramatically after causing a huge bang on the gold table with his right fist.

' Is it mine? Where is the child, brother? We need to quickly dispose of the child' Poseidon chatted to Zeus who sat beside him.

' This is unacceptable, brother. I will no longer murder my offspring. '  Hades snapped.

' You are lucky to have daughter. ' Apollo said sadly. ' I've only been given sons.'

Gaia sat looking at the troubling interaction, the feeling of irritation rising exponentially along with the noise. Finally she had enough of the situation.

' SHUT YOUR MOUTHS AT LET HIM SPEAK!' power swept through the room and the gods stopped speaking instantly, their eyes widen as they looked at the most powerful goddesses on the table.

' Thank you.' Zeus said as he cleared his throat. ' Its not actually just one child, it is all your children. All seven of yours'

All the gods stared at him silently, shock evident on their faces, as he continued.

' And as you know leaving the children on earth is extremely dangerous. Remember Ares's child a few hundred years ago? Caused the destruction of the entire Amazon forrest and initiated the eruption of Pompeii.... in all of two weeks.' Reminded Zeus.

' Well that was Ares's seed' muttered Hades chuckling to himself.

' YOU DARE' yelled Ares, as Hades rolled his eyes at his naturally melodramatic speech.

' OR I'm sure you remember well of Poseidon's son? Destroyed almost all the main coastal capitals for trade during the 1400's? Causing the death of millions?' Zeus continued trying to make a point.

' They are dangerous and have been the main reason of strain for the treaty we have with the Earth Fae. It was agreed we show no interference in their world.' Zeus sighed. '... we can't afford another war'

' And bringing the male offspring to us is out of the question , I assume?' Gaia said to no one in particular.

All the male gods shifted uncomfortably in their seats.

' You know that our male offspring can become more powerful than we can ever be. This hierarchy has been set for thousands of years. I will not have a babe sitting in my place!' Zeus spat spitefully.

He slowly calmed himself and continued.

' Females are accepted. Their powers have never been equal to ours'

' But are extremely rare' Apollo added, Hades is the only God thus far that has been able to keep his offspring. One female amongst hundreds of mixed blood offspring has been accepted. Well, her and Zeus's child which is secretly locked away.

' So what do we do?' Hades defeatedly interrupted knowing very well the answer but hoping for anything but.

Athena lifted a scroll and threw it onto the the gold table.

' The Fae know of their existence and have stated that they will start the slaughter in a fortnights time if we do not deal with it ourselves' her eyes did not leave the paper far in front of her.

The same feelings rise everytime she orders the killing of her children. But her sons cannot live. They would turn their world into chaos, and no one would able to stop them.
