Yoongi's pov

I take the prepacked plates to the table and peel the gladwrap off the bean topping.

The sound of plastic is replaced by the banging of the kitchen draws as Taehyung grabs chopsticks from the kitchen. Jin and Ever walk into the kitchen as we finish taking the takeaway plates into the dining room.

" ... put them back in?" I hear Jin mutter.

" My wings? And how do you suggest I do that?!" Responds Evers mortified voice.

" Can't you .. make them invisible or something?" Taehyung chirps as he hands her a glass of water, stealing a glance at the pure white wings proding from her back.

Ever sits with a sigh, " I don't know, I was told that my gifts would come back when I got my wing- oh!"

Ever turns to me quickly, " My book!"

I respond with a raised eyebrow.

" You know the one I was holding during the accident"

" Oh! Yeah it's in your roo-" I start, and watch as she sprints out of the room. The feathers in her wings fluttering in the wind she leaves behind her.

We all hear her heavy steps become dull and then return loud as she slides back to her chair and throws a large dusty book onto the table with a grunt.

My arms ache with the memory of needing to hurl that 4-inch thick book up the stairs and into the apartment. Bloody elevator was under repair.

The book was obviously ancient, pages and random pieces of paper of all sizes peaking underneath the other uniformed pages. A red, jam like substance stained the the right corner of the hard cover. Not to mention the it was entirely written in a questionable language. After using the photo feature online, he found it wasn't a language he could google translate.

She gently turns the front page and smiles as she effortlessly reads a jumble of shapes.

" You can read that?" Jin asks. I raise my eyebrows with the same question.

" Yes, it's just like my old textbook back at home! Although it does look a lot older than my own, but it should help with all the questions I have."

" Questions?"

" Well, for one, I'm only supposed to be looking after one human. Two, I'm sure I'm supposed to have my powers back and then should be able to glamour my wings..."

We watch in silence as she turns page after page, becoming more and more anxious.

I grab my bowl and mix the cold contents of noodles and bean paste, succumbing to the pain inside my stomach. The other boys do the same.

" I - I don't understand" she says, after a few minutes. Panic swirled in her dark eyes.

" All the pages about Angels have been ripped out, the only information left is about Gods and Demi-gods" she whispers in defeat.

I take her bowl and mix it as the others question her.

" God?" Taehyung grumbles, a mass of food in his cheeks.

" No, the Gods. Most are similar to how they are portrayed in human mythology..." she says with dismissively and looks over to her meal in my hands.

" .... so there's no God?" Jin squeaks, noodles mid air.

Ever looks surprised at his question,

" I wouldn't know" she laughs, " The Gods are one of the many supernatural beings that live in this time and dimension. An omniscient being which humans describe is a matter of faith, and could exist. Unfortunately, unlike how it's portrayed on earth, we are not connected to a creator, but more of a ...system."

I push the food towards her, and watch as she struggles using the chopsticks as she eats.

" Is there anything in it, at all, that could help us?" Jin asks looking at the book curiously.

Ever puts the chopsticks down " Not really, it's just about the exsistance of Gods and how Demi-gods are produced"

" How they are produced? Isn't that ... self explanatory?" I retort.

Ever rolled her eyes as the two other boys snicker.

" Not really" Ever chimes in, taking a deep breath as if she was preparing to recite a speech.

" The Gods themselves were rarely created in the traditional way, and much like their parents, a Demi-god's start can be slightly ... perculiar."

"When Gods have genuine feelings for a being on Earth, whether friendship, courting, a ward or though .. sexual intercourse, they can create what's called a Rayrus. It's a parasite like being which mimics a soul. But unlike a parasite it moulds with it's chosen body, mostly infants, and gifts it godly powers after a traumatic event or when in a life or death situation."

" Of course, a Rayrus actually finding an infant body strong enough and with enough potential for it to actually choose to bind; is 1 in a million. It happens, but only to the most worthy. Somehow those that are chosen are subconsciously pulled to the others, which make it easy for the Gods to slaughter them" Ever picks up her chopsticks and tries again to eat.

" Slaughtered? Why?" Taehyung questions, his meal forgotten.

"Hmmm" Ever's eyes moved from one object on the table to another, as she thought of the right way to express the information.

" There's an old prophecy predicting the end of the council, due to the rise of a Demi-god born from the affections of a member. The prophecy says that the child will destroy his or her source and take over to rule, destroying every seat on the council. It also doesn't help that male offspring of Gods can become more powerful than their source...."

" So they kill them all off?" I ask in disbelief.

" Yup!" Ever says unbothered and continues eating.

" What's the counci-" starts Taehyung,, but a sudden growing tingle in my fingertips explodes into the centre of my chest, the sudden pain causes my heart to skip a beat, and my breath to stop short. I look at the other boys to find pain shown in their expressions.

Moments after a loud crash comes from in front of me as Ever collapses from her chair, and lays like a corpse on the ground.

We all freeze as we watch her lifeless body on the floor.

" Again? You don't think she fell asleep do you?" Taehyung laughs nervously.
