CHAPTER EIGHT OF:

"if you even think of messing up today, so help me i will-"

"okay! i get it," millie cut her dad off, turning the music up in the car, an attempt to drown him out. after last night, she was in no mood for another argument.

she leaned against the car door, staring out the window at nothing in particular.

he's gonna pay for not letting me see him, millie thought to herself, slumping against the window in defeat. her thoughts then turned to something that turned her bad mood upside down, but at least he goes to this school.

her dad had no idea why she was smiling on the drive to school, he didn't dare ask either.

finn, did in fact, call her last night, although she had to be sneaky about it, speaking to him in whispers and keeping their conversation short, so her dad wouldn't suspect.

"you can just drop me off here, it's fine." millie blurted, already started to unlock the car door before it even stopped yet. the sooner she saw finn, the better.

her dad grumbled something under his breath, skidding the car to a stop so quickly that millie had to stop herself from hitting the dashboard.

"what the fuck?" she turned to him, her eyes shooting daggers, "you did that on purpose!"

"have a good day at school," he muttered, his voice full of fake enthusiasm, an evil smirk on his face as he turned his head towards her.
millie paused for a second, still glaring at him.

"go! you're gonna make me late!" he barked, slamming his hand hard on the dashboard, making millie jump slightly. he made no attempt to hide his smirk as he watched her climb out of the car and race towards the school entrance, backpack banging against her back as she ran.

"finnie," millie whispered as the curly haired boy trails kisses down her neck.

"yes?" he asks, giving her his full attention as he stands up, his body leaning towards her. she was pressed against the lockers, both of them standing in the seemingly empty school hallway. when he didn't show up to first period, millie began to worry, her feet tapping anxiously as she tried to pay attention to the teacher. it turned out he didn't have his bike of course, forcing him to walk those many, long blocks to school.

"i don't wanna be late on my first day," millie murmured, giggling as he pecks her neck once more.

"you're not that late though, right?" he questions, looking up at the clock. she raises her eyebrows as the bell rings loudly, answering the question for him.

"come on, let's go to lunch," millie says, grabbing his hand and dragging him down the crowded hallway, pushing past the cluster of students heading outside.

it was so crowded with students laughing and chatting amongst themselves that nobody suspected the girl watching them, her green, makeup covered eyes narrowed as she eyed the short haired girl laugh at something finn said, pushing back his dark hair and scooting close to him.

the green-eyed girl pressed her pink, full lips together, glancing at her reflection in the mirror in jealousy. "she's not even, like, pretty," she complained, pausing as she took out a tube of shimmery pink lipgloss.

"i dunno, iris," her best friend maddie ziegler shrugged her shoulders, adjusting her backpack strap as they peered at the couple in close watch, "i mean, he seems to really like her and-"

"i know," iris muttered, popping her lips together and putting the lipgloss back into her pocket. still eyeing them, she crossed her arms over her chest, "that's what i'm pissed about,"

maddie glanced at iris, her confusion turning into realization, "wait, are you jealous of her-"

"you know i like finn!" iris loudly states, her eyes leaving them to glare at the blue eyed girl. maddie glances down, her hands shaking as she stares down at the floor in shame, "everyone in the whole damn school probably knows i like him. he's mine, understand? not hers. it's like she's waving him around just to bother me,"

"yes, well-"

"here's what we're gonna do," iris slams her locker closed, making maddie flinch at the sound, "i get closer to him, making that millie girl jealous. flash forward to your summer party—you're having it this year right?"

maddie nods reluctantly as iris scoots closer, whispering her the rest of her little plan. maddie gasps, shaking her head as iris whispers the last few bits of the secret.

"oh no!" maddie utters in protest, her fists balled as she shakes her head again and again, "that's so cruel! iris, no. it's not-"

iris giggles softly, smirking slyly at her friend, "if you don't help me, i'm telling that chloe lukasiak girl that you like her," iris laughs again, watching as maddie's shocked expression turns into horror.

"you'll be the laughing stock of the school," iris remarks, smoothing down her school girl skirt in a innocent type of way, "now, will you help me or not?"

still shocked, a shaken maddie nods, her hands trembling as she bites down on her lip, seeing chloe strut down the hallway. iris holds onto her gaze, watching with a evil smirk as maddie cowers into her locker.

"say it," iris murmurs once chloe and her friends walk past, maddie glances up in fear, her blue eyes widening, "say that you'll help me,"

"iris-"

"say it!" iris screams, digging her long nails into her fists, blood mixing into her pink nail polish, "say it!"

"i-i'll help you," maddie squeaks in a weak voice, "i'll do it. just don't tell chloe that, um... you know,"

iris smiles a genuine smile as she pats the worried girl on the shoulder, an unhelpful attempt to reassure her, "good, once we're through, that millie girl will be sorry she's ever messed with me. everyone knows that you don't mess with iris apatow," maddie gulps, glancing down at her shoes in defeat.
