Janta had a lot of favorite members in his magic choir. There was Bailey, and Karah, Brianna and Mily. Cason and Tommy, Veranna and Gabby. But do you recall the most favorite student of all? I have no idea but it was definitely not Marli. Year after year, little Marli didn't get the chamber spot she always wished for. She didn't know why Janta didn't love her like the others.

One Wednesday night, Marli drove down to Janta's home, Fairfield Woods Middle School, to ask Janta why oh why he didn't love her. She walked into his office. He was listening to a light jazz playing on his IPod Touch. "What a bop!" he exclaimed. Marli tapped on his shoulder to get his attention. "Kevin, is that you? I told you we shouldn't see each other anymore. My wi-- Oh Carli. It's just you." Janta swiveled around in his chair to face her.

"Actually sir, it's Marli."

"Sure, Marvin. Anyways, what brings you here?" Janta ran his wrinkly fingers through his luscious thinning blonde locks.

"Janta, why don't you love me like the other students? You even like Brianna more and she wrote that awful song in 5th grade."

"First of all, she wrote that song in the dark with a hot pink toy piano, give her some credit. And second, yOU NEVER TOOK MY GIFT OF D MINOR!"

"W-what?" Carli was flustered. What ever could he mean?

Janta sighed and patted his leg. "Come sit on Janta's lap, Macaroni." Marli hopped on gladly (it was an honor for anyone to sit on Janta's loving lap!).

"You see, Maverick," he explained, "you don't know your scales. They're a very important part of every performers everyday life and you just don't know them. On Wednesday, 3 and a half years ago, I tried giving you the gift of d minor, but you thought I was giving you c major. I had never been more offended."

How could Marli have been so stupid? All this time she could of been in Janta's Mystical Chamber Sleigh but oh no! She didn't know her scales.

"Marker, I'll tell you what," Janta began with a glisten in his eye, "I admire your moxy. I'll give you my last chamber spot if, and only if, you can tell me all the notes in the d minor scale."

Marli was overwhelmed. She could finally be a chamber. All she had to do was list the notes in the d minor scale. Easy enough

She cleared her throat, "D, E, F, G, A, B, and C."

The room went silent. You couldn't even hear Buchta play his glorious tuba.

"Did you say B?"

Again, not a word was spoken. Janta's eyes suddenly grew wide with rage. He suddenly shoved Marli off his lap. His loving lap was no longer available.

"iT'S B FLAT, MARACA. STUPID GIRL, HOW COULD YOU NOT KNOW AFTER ALL THESE YEARS OF MY EXPERT TEACHING?? I AM SO UNAPPRECIATED BY KIDS LIKE YOU, ALWAYS TALKING DURING PRACTICE. HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY THERE IS NO TALKING IN THIS CHOIR. I CAN'T TAKE THIS TOM FOOLERY ANYMORE. I MUST GO."

"Does this mean I don't get that chamber sp-" And before she could finish, Janta shimmied up the chimney. In a flash, he was gone.

Little Marli didn't know it yet, but this was just the beginning of her musical journey.
