I swallowed hard, my throat is dry, and I can't speak.
The image of Flavio's smirk is stuck in my head, even when I looked away. Their eyes are on me and I feel strangely vulnerable, and it unnerves me.
"C-Can't you just let me go?" I asked, doing my best to stop my voice from shaking and put on a brave face. I don't want them to know I'm scared out of my mind. "I want to go home."
But I just can't look at them. It was silent for a moment, then I heard a chuckle that came from Allen.
"I don't think you have a choice, doll."
I swallowed back a groan.
"If we let you go, you'd be killed the second you take two steps out onto those streets," Allen continued.
"I think I'd take the chance," I managed to stutter, keeping myself from adding As long as I'm away from you guys.
"Damn, she really does look like Zoey," Canada-look-alike said, his ice blue eyes studying me and I shuddered under his gaze. "She's got some of that stubborn attitude, too."
"Yeah, I told you." Allen said. "But we have no clue where Zoey is."
"Maybe she ran off," the Canadian said, then he looked at Flavio. "Did you cheat on her again?"
Flavio sighed and rolled his scarlet eyes. "No. First of all, I didn't. Some whore kissed me and Zo happened to walk right in to see that. And second, I've never cheated on her. Ever!"
Allen waved his hand. "Yeah yeah, save it for your girlfriend. I don't want to be in any more of your girl dramas."
"Maybe if you weren't such a dick, Zoey would trust you more, eh?" Canada-look-alike told Flavio, raising an eyebrow, but still managed to keep up that bored expression of his.
"Yo, shut the fuck up." Flavio said with a glare.
"Make me, punk." The Canadian countered, glaring right back.
"Both of you shut up before I kick both of your asses," Allen spoke up, but his expression revealed his amusement. I, however, am not amused. I'm more mortified by the fact that my life are in the hands of these idiots.
Just then, the door to the room opened and they immediately became quiet as we looked to see someone very familiar step through the doorway.
"Ah, there you are." Oliver said with a wide smile, his eyes looking straight at me. I gulped. Oh no.
"About time you got here," Allen said, smirking as he crossed his arms. "We have the doll."
"I can see that," Oliver nodded and then looked behind him. "She's in here, Luciano."
"Damn." I heard Flavio mutter under his breath. I glanced at him, but he's looking at the doorway, where Luciano and Lutz both walked in.
"Ciao fratello, Allen, Matt." Luciano said formally, but his expression revealed nothing close to formal. "Nice catch."
Matt? My gaze shifted to the Canadian. Is that his name? That's close to Matthew.
"And hello again, ragazza."
Then, I felt something cold and sharp under my chin, and it turned my head and lifted it up so my gaze immediately met Luciano's, who is uncomfortably close to me as his eyes glared into mine. He has a knife under my chin, but his piercing eyes made me shiver more than the ice cold blade did.
"Bella, you should know not to run away," he cooed in a sweet voice that almost sang, but there's a dark edge to his tone that made me shiver even more.
"Well," I started, mustering up as much courage as I can. "Maybe if you weren't being such an intimidating freak, I wouldn't want to run in the first place."
His hand came fast and hard against my cheek and I gasped, then winced at the horrible stinging the impact accompanied. The sound shattered the air within the suffocatingly small room.
"She's as much as a smartass as Zoey," Allen muttered and Flavio chuckled, but Luciano just glared at me, his smile completely gone from his face.
"Well then, I think I should teach you a thing or two, si?" He started off with a light tone, but ended with a growl. He jerked his knife away from my chin and I jumped a bit when I felt it cut my skin slightly.
"Do we have to kill her?" Flavio asked, raising a blonde eyebrow at Luciano.
Luciano's glare shifted to Flavio. "What, do you have a crush on her?"
Flavio rolled his eyes. "No, but do we really have to follow the rules?"
"Of course we do!" Oliver said in a bright tone despite the dark conversation. "The rules were made to follow, right?"
"Maybe," Allen said, but then he smirked, "But maybe not."
Luciano narrowed his eyes. "What are you saying?"
"What if we have a little fun with her?" Flavio suggested, crossing his arms and leaning back in his chair as he crossed his ankles. "You know, before we kill her."
"Come on, it could be interesting." Matt shared a smirk similar to Allen's.
I swallowed hard.
So...are they going to kill me or keep me hostage?
To be honest, I don't know which is worse.
