; ROMAN'S POV

peter and i knew it was time to change. he swore he saw another wolf heading right for the mansion- where imogen was. the timing was perfect, but when peter came back with blood soaking his fur i knew something was wrong.

"fuck." i quickly said, knowing peter couldn't change back yet. i had to handle this on my own. peter looked so desperate for help, as much expression as a canine could have. "im going, im going." he ran off into the woods and i went as fast as possible to my car, hopping in and speeding to the mansion.

the second i saw the door broken, i pushed the car door open and ran inside. imogen was sitting against the wall in a blood soaked puddle. i tried so fucking hard to keep my promise to peter above my hunger. "oh my fucking god-" i murmured, pulling off my coat and wrapping it around her leg. "imogen, honey, stay with me, keep your eyes open." i desperately told her. i grabbed a blanket off of the couch and wrapped it around her arm, making her squeal. "fuck. i think it's broken." she nodded, tears soaking her face. "im taking you to pryce, it'll be okay."

"i-i called an.... an ambulance..." she stuttered out, "fuck. fuck, okay, okay, i can't call off an ambulance." i gulped,
licking my bottom lip in stress. "im so fucking sorry- i shouldn't have left you here with all of this going on."

"it's.... okay, roman. you... you couldn't have d-done much." i took her hand and let her squeeze mine, knowing she was in pain. "im not letting you leave mine or peter's side until all of this is figured out, i promise you." i told her. "i don't think i'll want to.... to, anyway." she let out a weak giggle. all the fabric i covered her with was covered in blood. she was bleeding out. i heard sirens and quickly jumped up, running out and making sure they got in as fast as possible. they pulled her onto a gurney, and i pushed my hand through my hair.

they knew me, everyone did. they didn't bother telling me i couldn't get on the ambulance with her, because i wouldn't oblige. they cut off her pants and put pressure on the bites.

the pace they were at to hook her up to so many different machines, it was beyond me how they did it all. i looked out a window to see a dark black wolf keeping up on the side of the road with the ambulance, giving me just a small sense of comfort.

i could see her heart rate wasn't normal, but she wasn't flat lining. they pulled up to the hospital and i practically jumped out of the way to make sure they could get her out quickly. i was the last one out of there. i waited outside of the room, sighing and going to the front desk, signing myself in and sitting down. my hands ran through my hair, occasionally doctors would come out to ask me questions, but not too many. i think imogen explained herself quite enough over the phone.

"roman godfrey?" i heard a voice wake me up, i had no clue when i passed out or how long i was out. obviously, it was quite some time. "yeah?" i muttered, waking myself up. "how is she?" i asked before he could speak. "she's okay. we got the bleeding to stop, but her arm is broken in two places, and she needed several stitches. she can go home in a few days." i felt my rapid heart rate decrease, sighing in relief.

i didn't know if i genuinely cared for her, or if i just cared for peter's happiness and the trust we have. either way, i needed her safe. that was my responsibility at the moment.

"is she awake?" i asked, looking ahead. "she should be soon. would you like to wait in there? we've finished everything that's needed to be done, but she'll need her medication in two hours. you'll have to step out for that." i nodded, letting him lead me there. she was asleep, but she didn't look peaceful. she looked scared, hurt, pale and exhausted. i sighed, seeing a small arm chair with a large window at the corner of the room, much more comfortable than those plastic ones in the waiting room. i sighed, plopping down on one and looking down at the street below us. "if something's wrong and for some reason she can't press it, hit this red button right here." he pointed to the back of her seat. i nodded, and he pulled the curtain and left the room.

this poor fucking girl. she didn't have to get involved, but she loved peter so much she insisted on going over there when he told her to leave. now she's in this shithole, just because she cares. i can't imagine how scared she must be, and how badly she just wants to get in her car and drive across the country, start a new life. i wish i could, too.

in my thoughts, i didn't realize her eyes opened slowly until i heard soft sobbing. i rushed up and over to her, she looked relieved to see me. "hey, hey... you're okay." i told her, kneeling down in front of the bed. she gulped, tears falling off of her face. "im so scared, roman.. i don't want this. i can't be brave." she told me, sniffling and trying to dry her eyes. "i know it's scary, honey." i took her hand and ran my thumb over it. "i wish i knew what was going on." she hinted, making me sigh. "i don't know if that'll make you safer or in more danger. i'll find out soon. i promise." i told her softly.

"thank you, roman.. you've been so good to me and you're probably so irritated with me." she chuckled while talking. "im not irritated with you. im keeping you safe for peter, but you're alright. i'd probably be upset to see you die or something." i joked, making her giggle. "so, where is peter?" she asked. "he's um..." i struggled to think of something. "i think he's on his way. maybe at the police station after i told him two wolves broke in my house." i lied right through my teeth.
