*Artemis's POV*
Urgh. Not Spiritual Explosion again. I hate this trip so much. Last year when I went, my ex-boyfriend pushed me into the lake leaving me with cuts on my feet and me with a very angry temper. I only took a month after that event for me to dump him. Honestly. He was not worth my time. He was not quite a fob or fresh off the boat but he definitely was not from America.
Maybe this year will be different. I do not have any pesky boyfriends to deal with.
*The Week Before Camp*
"Students do not forget to turn in your permission slips before we go on the trip. No permission slip. No go. We are going to the same place as last year, Million Oaks. We will be up there for 3 days sadly." Or at least that is what my history teacher told this bored eighth grade class. "Come one guys. Wake up. It's going to be fun. There's a lake and no homework and free dress! However. No phones or electronics." Whatever he is saying, it is not buying me at all. Sadly it is a required trip. If you do not go, then you fail your Bible class. Talk about stupid. I hated this trip last year. Well I am going to hate it this year as well.
*Day Before Camp*
Urgh. I don't know what to pack. I mean I have my usual stuff, but the only pieces that are dress code, well that's only one outfit. Fuck! Everything else is "too slutty" for a Christian private school. I really got to figure this out. Till then, I'm screwed.
*Morning of Camp*
Well isn't this going to be amazing. Or at least that's what I tell myself sarcastically when I woke up to the Colors by Halsey. "You're dripping like a saturated sunrise/ You're spilling like an overflowing sink/ You're ripped at every edge but you're a masterpiece/ And now I'm tearing through the pages and the ink/ Everything is blue" I wish that I could not go. But hell. I am not failing a class. Plus that race against Andrew. Guess when it is? At camp. On the last day. Right before we leave. He is going down.
*At School*
The buses were parked at the front of the campus. 4 to be exact. I like to think that my middle school is small but if you put everyone together, it definitely is not. "Everyone please check into your homeroom classes please." Our principal told us. I highly disliked her. He named was Mrs. Park. I never liked her much. Ever since I got called in to get my bag searched I hated her. She made my middle school life hell. Not to mention all the occasions where I was called in just because she found out about some family stuff that had been going on.
I waited for Cara and Nagisa to show up because I hate the feeling of being a loner. Once they showed up, we walked over to our teacher's room only to find her not there and everyone waiting outside her classroom. Andrew glared at me with competitive eyes and smirked thinking that he will win. If only he knew that he was going to get his sorry ass kicked by a girl.
We did role call once everyone showed up and then labeled all of our bags. Once all of that was done, we boarded the buses. Eighth graders were separated by ELL (AKA English Language Learners) and mainstream. The sad little seventh graders were divided up depending on gender. Ha! Sucks to be them.
*The Middle of the Trip*
"Truth or dare," Andrew asked Tamaki. You know. Mr. Smart Alleck.
"Uhhh. Truth. I don't know." He replied. He sounded awkward with his light Japanese accent.
"Alright." Andrew paused. "Out of everyone at this table. Who would you date?"
Tamaki seemed confused by this statement and just continued to look at him until he finally made up his mind. "Artemis."
"Oh my gosh. You know but I think she likes you too. You guys should date." Andrew winked at me. He knows the truth. Andrew tapped my shoulder and had me move to sit right next to Tamaki. Tamaki just sat there very awkwardly. But then. So did I.
*On The Way Home*
"Artemis, come on. You should go out with Tamaki." Nagisa told me. I do not think I should. We have a language barrier. I mean he is smart and artistic and shit. But why. I do not think that he is really the one for me. I mean I should consider just to make my friends happy, but I do not actually have feelings for him. Even if he does, I do not. It would have to become made.
"Come on. It won't be that bad. He isn't like your exes. He is a nice person. Everyone else, well they were jerks. Especially that last guy." Cara repeated to me. I just stared at her. I do not want to hear this. This whole week of Andrew trying to set me and him up. Well, that was insane. "For God's sake Artemis. You never ever that last guy. At least you can see Tamaki daily." She was pissed.
"I will think about it," I told these impatient people I call my best friends. Tamaki heard part of our conversation and turned around in his bus seat in front of me. Andrew sat a little behind me and heard what was going on. He stared at me hoping that I would not. I have to though. I can not let them down. They only want me to do this just so that I can save my sorry ass from all the pain and heartbreak that comes with everyone else that I have been with.
Nagisa rose her voice and said, "Make up your mind soon. We do not have all day to wait for you two to fall in love with each other." Tamaki really hear us now. And he just stared. He was not impressed with this. I do not think that he liked it much either. I just pulled out my phone and started to text him.
"Tamaki..."
"Ya. What?" He responded.
"Would you go out with me???"
"What?! Why?"
"Please. I just need to shut them up."
"Sure.
Do we tell them right now?"
"No. There's a friend's party this Saturday. I will tell them then."
"Okay."
"Okay" I left the conversation. You could say that I read far too much John Green.
