*Artemis's POV*
I have no idea what to tell him. I don't know what I want. All I know is that I am not in a position to date anyone. I like Andrew but I don't know what to do about it. I refuse completely to talk to my friends about it much less my brother. My parents wouldn't be happy about it either. They seem to not like him at all just because of his background. I kinda do not blame them really. I feel like liking him is so wrong but yet it feels so right.
The Next Day:
Ok so I figured out what to tell him. Since I would like to keep our feelings secret, since it like a forbidden love, I will ask him to not flirt with me publicly and especially at school. Right before class I saw him again down at the basketball courts shooting hoops. Again. Why am I shocked. He is a boy after all. I walked on down and didn't say a word till I snuck up right behind him and my hands over his eyes.
"All right who is it?" He said.
I replied, "Someone."
"Art?"
"Maybe........." I moved my hands as he turned around to see who it was. "Ok you got me. Ha ha."
"Ha ha. So do you have a request for me?" He said as if trying to interrogate me. Gah. It feels weird. It's not like he is trying to be seductive but something about that tone of voice is making me melt. AAAAAH!!!! Urgh. Kill me.
"Ya. I do."
"Ok. Shoot it at me." And he passed me the basketball.
"Alright." I dribbled the ball in place. "So my request is for you to not flirt with me publicly. Ever." And I shot the ball into the hoop. It went straight in. Nothing but net!!!! A 3 pointer!!!! Yasss!!! His jaw dropped to the ground, he was so in awe. He stared at me unable to believe what I just did. His eyes darted around the courts to see if anyone had witnessed the magic that just happened. He looked at me again and I flipped my hair and posed. Ya. Sass for the win. I mean anything boys can do, girls can do better.
"Oh you are so mean. Ouch. That, that's so hard!! You're so cute, it's hard not to."
"Ya sorry but with that fact that us two are such opposites, it's hard so show it without ridicule from our friends."
"Fine. I will suck it up then."
A Week or So Later:
I hear Andrew near me whisper to my friend Cara,"Hey Cara."
"Ya what?" Cara sounded quite annoyed by him talking to her.
"Since the whole class is discussing sports, don't you play any?" He asked inquisitively.
"No. Not really."
"Wow. I'm shocked."
"Actually. I do one sport, cheer."
Andrew looked shocked then opened his mouth to speak, "Cheer isn't a sport. It's just an activity."
Cara stared at him pissed off to no end. "Excuse me but cheer is a sport."
"No it isn't." He said while I listened in on their quiet conversation.
"Ya well it is."
"Andrew, she is right. Cheer was officially made a sport as of this school year." I told him in a matter-of-factly tone of voice.
"No. It isn't a sport." He told me. Pft. That ignorant child.
Class began and we tried to focus in on the lesson.
At Lunch:
God dammit Andrew. How dare you think cheer isn't a sport. I was really really starting to like you even more. Gah!
"Hey Andrew!" I yelled out to him after he got my lunch and his too. The line was insane so I already got a seat and just asked him to get my lunch. Call me flirtatious but a girl has to do what a girl has to do. Especially in desperate circumstances. The line was insane plus all the high schoolers kept taking all the seats so i asked him to go and get my lunch and I would get him a seat. He sits with me since I guess he just likes spending time with me. I have no idea why but he does and it's kinda nice. I don't know. I have so many mixed emotions about him. Part of me is super mad at him for calling cheer not a sport put the other part of me really really likes him.
He began to walk toward me with two lunch trays in hand. One was his and the other was mine. Aww how kind. Oh shut up. Nah I gave him the money for lunch. For both of us. Ya I paid for his. But that was under one condition. That he would ensure to buy me a Pepsi. He hates it. He likes Coke. Eww. Gosh we have so many different beliefs it drives me crazy. I guess that's what "love" is. All it is a crazy rollercoaster ride that ends, or goes on forever. No one knows right? "Thanks Andrew." I tell him politely before moving in on him like an interrogator."So Andrew, What possessed you to call Cheer not a sport? Cheerleaders throw 100 pound girls and football players throw 2 pound balls. And we Cheerleaders well, we actually catch what they throw."
"Well I just don't think it is. I wasn't possessed."
"How come you think that Cheer isn't a sport?"
"Well it's because cheerleaders aren't paid a lot, they are televised, and well when they are, it's because guys are perverted jerks, plus they don't compete that much. So. Ya thats why I don't think that cheer is a sport."
"False. False. False. Well guys are perverted jerks. That is so true. Cheer is not really appreciated for what they do. You need to go hit the books and check your facts because you are so wrong."
"Oh how so?"
"Everything. First of all, cheer is underappreciated so they do not get the pay they deserve. Even with high pays, the cost to be a cheerleader is very high. Uniforms alone are well over $500 (Actually I think it is closer to $400 but it is for the point.) Let's not get started on poms. Or on living costs. Dude staying that fit is hard work. Second, Cheer is televised on cheer based networks. Third, Cheer competitions happen worldwide and some do get televised." I felt as though I had dropped a mic. Ha. Facts always come in handy.
"Oh whatever. Cheer still isn't a sport."
We ate in silence trying to avoid the touchy subject. He later thanked me for the lunch and stuff.
