*Artemis's POV*
Oh great. Not this again. Another school year. Like school is great is stuff, and I get to see my friends. But with every school year there is new students and that is what I am dreading. Last year we got one. And only one. He was on average ok ,but when in class he just annoyed me. This year I planned for the worst. The absolute worst. It's my 8th grade year and maybe even my last year at this school. My dad wants me to change schools, but I don't think that my friends are ready to see me go. I knew it was for the best of me, but other than that, I'm not sure. Well forget that depressing shit. So my school is a small private school in Southern California, Los Angeles Christian School. Not really stuck in the ghettos of LA but travel a few minutes from my school and you are there. The school is in a nice community but most of our students are not from the same area.
Morning of the First Day: 5:30 AM
5:30 am and my alarm is already blaring. It's killing me. Who set the alarm anyway. Oh wait. It was me. Dammit. I set it so that I for sure will not be late to class. Even though class starts at 8 am. I'm not crazy ok. Don't judge ok. So I slowly crawled out of my twin sized bed and walked my way to my little closet. I searched through my wardrobe for my uniforms. Over summer, I hid them in the very back behind all my skirts, jeans, shorts, t-shirts, crop tops, and blouses. I can't decide between a blazer or not. I look great in it, and first impressions are everything but then I do not need it. It is just like an accessory. I decided to wear it. I mean like why not. Who cares if I do or don't after all. I changed into my uniform and walked over to my "Make-up Counter" AKA my desk with like 3 mirrors on it and my make-up organization trays. I decided on something a little bit more casual rather than bold and sexy. I do that only every once in a while. The casual is for like school or just daily wear. I only try to do my make-up every once in a while so. Daily isn't per say, daily.
6:00 AM
Now that I am physically ready to leave at 7, I need to grab my lunch. Last night me and my dad worked on creating my own little cute bento box. I grabbed it and made sure that everything was inside of it. I searched the kitchen for any signs of what to do for breakfast I discovered our last box of oatmeal. After making a bowl, I walked back to my desk and turned on my laptop to see if I got any Facebook messages from a friend in England. My friends kinda hate me for it but still. Unfortunately he is way too damn old for me say about 18. I'm just turn 14 in July on the 25th. Shockingly I met him around that time. I think it was right after I came back from a Christian camp.
7:00 AM
"Artemis! Come on. Get ready to go!. We leave in 5!" my mother screamed from the living room.
"I'm coming Mom!!" I turned off my laptop after answering John's messages. I ran down to the living room with my backpack slung onto my right shoulder. My big little brother, Stephan, was already waiting on the couch tapping his foot to some music playing on his phone. Lately he has been stuck in the past and listening to some Fall Out Boy album from 2 years ago. Now I know that I called him my big little brother. Well let me explain. He is younger than me by 11 months but size wise he is huge. He is actually adopted, since the rest of my family is short. We adopted him when his parents died at his birth, or so my parents tell us. I'm not going to get too far into detail about it.
7:05 AM
"Let's go." Mom said as we walked out the door and into the car.
7:25 AM
"See you two. Have fun. I love you!" Mom said as we walked out of the car and onto the school campus.
Excited Stephan said, "I'm so excited! It's my first day of middle school sis." He didn't quite start jumping up and down, but you could see his joy a mile away. It was very hard to miss. I on the other hand wasn't as happy as he was. I wish I could be though. I guess to many years at this school has disappointed me when it came to new school years and classmates.
We walked to his locker first since it was on the way, and I helped him set it up. We spent a good few minutes just putting in the goddamned locker shelf. He placed his books into his locker a beautifully as I could imagine out of a boy. All his books on the bottom and his backup uniform, P.E. clothes, sneakers, and his lunch on the top. Don't worry the shoes and clothes were all in a bag. Then we walked down to mine and I put in my shelf, mirror, whiteboard, my books and my clothes in. Like Stephan, I kept a backup uniform but unlike him, I kept a set of athletic wear and casual clothes. Yes it did all fit. Why. It's cause I'm amazing at folding. Just kidding I'm not. Well I also was a great organizer. If I do say so myself. I placed my books onto the bottom below my shelf and closed my locker shut.
Stephan left me there. Standing at my locker. It's 7:33 and I still got a few more minutes till my classes. I walked around looking for my friends but I knew they were not here yet. Cara wouldn't get here for at least another 7 minutes and Nagisa wouldn't for another 17. I ran down to the basketball court and grabbed a ball and started to shoot a few hoops. I wasn't very successful. I couldn't score a 3 pointer!!! I guess that's what I get for not practicing since at least July. I might be wrong. Then Nagisa came running to me and jumped onto my back and well I almost punched her. I mean by almost I did. So I punched my own best friend! The audacity of me. Since I did that, she challenged me to a game and well.... She won. "I HATE YOU!" I screamed as she smirked at me with a happy glint in her eye. "Ama." None of you guys would know what that means, well it's a rude thing in Japanese. Nagisa taught me it. I won't tell what it means since I know that you guys will start using it to your friends, and trust me they will hate you. I made that mistake. The bell rings and I ran to the restroom to wash off my half grey hands then grabbed my stuff I put in front of my first classroom, 13 and walked inside the classroom. I sat down away from Nagisa and next to Cara. I wasn't going to sit next to a girl who ruined my basketball pride. I was so good! The teacher quieted down the class and asked for everyone to introduce themselves. I have had this teacher last year and well she was a very fun one. This was sorta our homeroom I guess you can say. When one boy introduced himself, I didn't recognize him. I thought that he look familiar to someone I saw last year at a park playing baseball. I shook the idea out of my head and just continued to listen to him introduce himself.
"Hi. I'm Andrew Grant. Um I love baseball and want to be a football player, and what else do I say?" The teacher didn't respond and so this kid Andrew sat back down. The whole class finished introductions. I recognized all of them except two. One was Andrew and the other was a girl. I can't even remember her name. Oops. They both seemed pretty ok. Maybe this will be the year where we don't get a whole bunch of assholes or bitches.
3:20 PM
I survived the first day of school. Now hopefully I can live till graduation. Hopefully. Thai is many months away so I guess I shouldn't worry about it too much.
