Come Over

Luca

I walked home in the moonlight streets looking at the cracks in the pavement wondering where they came from and where Mia had gone, was she ok?

I turned into my street stopping at Mia's house feeling my feet feel heavy and I felt stuck to the ground looking at the strip of pavement leading up to her house which looked so empty. Memories came flooding to me,

When I first spoke to her looking into those orbs of hers feeling the warmth of her hand on the can of beans.

When we fell asleep my hand on her waist and we rushed to school.

And of course when I first saw her. Oh, how I would love to go back.

My feet peeled off the ground and I turned pulling out my phone and headphones chucking each bud in my ear and playing some bops. This is what I thought would help but it just put a soundtrack to my memories making me feel even worse. I reached my front door taking a few deep breathes before walking into the house shutting the door behind me, I darted to my room keeping my head down before I noticed something in the corner of my eye.

In the corner of the room sat my step mum, dad and my mother at the dining table my mother at one end and my dad at the other with my step mum.

I pulled out the left earbud and walked over confused.

"Mum?" I say wonderingly,

"Ciao," She replies sternly,

I gave her a hug before my dad butted in

"Lu, sit down,"

He said gesturing to the seat in the middle of the table so I was in the firing zone of the rentals.

"Lu we need to talk to you about whats been happening-,"

I stay silent leaning my elbows on my knees bouncing my head between each side of the table.

"You haven't been at school and every time I see you-you smell of cigarettes and look so dead,"

"Honey, where just worried and we thought coming here would change how you were before, but it hasnt,"

My dad and step mum recount to me they must have rehearsed this intervention.

"Your mum is here to bring you back,"

My dad says after a moment of silence I haven't said anything while they have been talking I don't see a point when my brain is still recounting Mia and her orbs that burned into my skin and her brown flowing hair that was as soft as a babies butt. She was Bella. To be honest I was in my own world but snapped when my mum grabbed my hand and held it in hers I jumped for a second from my Mia trance and looked at her worried eyes and her hair pulled into a tight bun.

"Lu?"

"Y-eah sorry,"

"Lu, I think something has happened and we need to go back to Italia with your friends and school and we can sort all this out,"

"The person I really need isn't here and it's my fault and I cant leave I need to be here waiting for her,"

"Her?"

All the adults in the room say almost simultaneously.

"I'm taking you home if this is all over a girl who knows how bad this is going to get,"

"I cant do that, I'll be better going to school getting straight A's and stop smoking,"

"Luca, we have all agreed on this,"

My step mum says abruptly as my head spins to her direction.

"Shut up Sharon,"

I slurry at her, she gasps at my tone and leaves the room, my dad, calling after her then darting his menacing orbs to me like an evil cat reading to rip my intestines out.

"Son you are leaving even if we have to put you in handcuffs and tie you the airplane seat or just shoving you in your mothers carry on,"

"I'm almost 18 and it's a free country,"

I said storming out feeling the breeze on my hair as I grab my jacket with gusto winging it onto my arms and back and fleeing outside grabbing my bike from the side of the driveway and jumping on and plopping in my earbuds and unlocking my phone playing my tunes again turning the volume to a deafening level.

BEEEEEEEEEEP

I hear throwing my headphones out as my phone rings I pull out the headphone jack and putting the phone up to my ear.

"Hello?"

I question to who is on the other side

"Hey,"

"Bev?"

"Do you want to come over?"

"That's kinda perfect actually, yes,"

I say giggling and so did she silently she gave me her address and I told her how long I might be then I hung up plugging the jack back in and pedaling down the streets, it was very late and I could barely see but it was magical and I couldn't think of anything Flight or flight mode not wanting to get hit or hit some crazy lady walking her cats at crazy hours.

I get to her house it was exactly how you would explain the daddy's little girl/ American dream house where the wife is a lawyer or just stays home and the Dad likes to go fishing with the sun but offers his little girl but she kisses him on the cheek and flips her hair and walks back to her room and sneaks out and has sex in a mank tube. Very specific.

I find the only window lit and grab a few stones from the garden ditching them gently at the window until the front door opens and I hide in the garden falling into the bushes.

"Luca?"

I step out from the bushes and brush the dirt off me smirking at her.

"My parents are away,"

"Oh, so that's why you invited me," I say my accents coming in heavily as I walk up to her tugging and pulling her closer by her jeans. She bites her lip then takes my hand and leads me into the house.

"I actually needed someone to talk to," She says pulling the sleeves of her cardigan and hiding her hands.

I look at her and cup her face kissing to top of her head and looking into her blue orbs.

"Ok,"
