I scrambled away from the hole. Gasping for breath from lack by surprise. I stared at the darkness the hole would have occupied. What. The. Hell. I heard a faint hum. I went back to the slightly warmer part of the room to find the hole. It was gone. Where is it? It was in that instant that I heard a quieter metal against metal sound behind me. I turned to a brief flash of light. I leapt towards the wall. My face connected with the cool surface. Did the room shrink? Couldn't have. I felt along the wall, nothing there. I went to the warmer spot of the room and realized something, the warmth isn't in the center of the room. Did it move? I moved to what had to be the center of the room. The hole was there. I put my eye to it, nothing. I put my ear to it. Then I head another almost indecipherable whisper, "light." I put my eye to it suppressing the fear of the whisper. I heard an almost silent screech. I pulled my head away from the hole. Sighing with relief as I did because as soon as my head was away a light sliced through the darkness. I followed the beam up its height to find the roof is higher than I estimated. I put my hands beside the hole to braced myself to listen through the hole and felt something under my hand. I moved my hand to the side to see nothing. Just darkness. I used my fingernails to try and pick it up. It was a handle. I pulled up on it and with all the force I had it wouldn't budge. "Dammit" I said under my breath "dammit"
