When I arrive at my house I see my dad's truck already loaded and ready to go. It's been four years since I spent time with him, now he's leaving again. when he left the first time he left for the Air Force, he's going back. I don't know why my parents split up, they'd had a big fight a few months before me and my mom moved out. Anyway, I need to focus on college and not on my parents long ago issues. I go in and find them standing by the sofa. "Oh there you are, dear?" mom says
"dad. You're leaving already?"
"I'm sorry princess. I just got a phone call. I have to go."
"Okay" Is all I manage to say
"I'll be back as soon as I can"
"How long do you think you'll be gone?"
"Few years at the least"
"Okay" I say again
He stands up to say his goodbyes. He goes to my mom first she hugs him and mutters something in his ear, I can't tell what she said exactly, all I heard is "do it for her"
I don't know what that meant but obviously he did because he said "I promise" he came over to hug me and I didn't want to let go. "Goodbye, princess. Love you" "love you, too, daddy" at that moment I felt like a small child again. He walked out the door, turned around looked at me and smiled. Like he was taking one last look at us. I couldn't take much more so I called Harry. It was about 2 am but he'll probably still be up.
"Hello?"
"Hey, can you come over"
"Babe, you realize it's almost three?"
"Yeah"
"What's wrong?"
"My dad left again"
"I'll be there in five."
