The three of us swiftly left the room and I closed the door quietly. Stuart informed us that once we reach the end of the hall there is a chance that some fans may spot us as there is a ceiling to floor window looking out onto the street just around the corner. "As long as none of them break through ye'll be fine", Stuart said trying to lighten the mood. We made our way along the corridor and I kept my eyes fixed on the red and cream patterned carpet hoping not to make eye contact with anybody. I could feel David doing the same as he held my hand.
Just as we were about to turn the corner Stuart put his arm out to stop us as he peered around. "The coast is clear. Just hurry and go up the stairs to the left and then hop into the car out the first door".
"Thanks Stuart", David said as he patted him on the shoulder. He took my hand once again and we walked briskly to the end of the stairs where I turned and gave Stuart a wave and got a smile in response. Myself and David started up the stairs and I was just glad we'd be home soon. As we neared the door I began to hear a great deal of hollering and movement. "Ahhhh fuck. The fans found the car" David moaned as he looked out the gap in the door. Just as I was about to ask what to do now he grabbed my hand and bolted up the next flight of stairs just as a group of middle aged women threw open the door and screamed "zzzZZZIGAAAAAYYYY".
We bounded up three flights of stairs, him taking two sometimes even three steps at a time. By the time we reached a landing we were both out of breath and stopped. "Do you think they're still following?" I asked more out of hope than wanting an answer. David quietly tiptoed down four or five steps all while clutching the hand rail to glance down to the ground floor.
"I think they might have gone to the second floor. I can't hear anything anyways". He climbed back up the steps and bent down to fix his shoe.
"Will I call Stuart and see what he can do?" I asked as I patted my pockets trying to find my phone. David stood back up. "No don't bother. Might as well show you the surprise now". He smiled as he opened the landing door and held it for me to go through.
"What have you planned?"
"Ah nothing special. It's just a nice end to a busy day... and whatever just happened there." He laughed as I ducked under his arm and out onto another red and cream carpeted hall.
We turned right and he lead us towards a fire escape. "Why in the name of Ziggys balls are you bringing me up a fire escape!? Can we not use the stairs or the lifts like normal people?"
"First off, it'll be worth it so stop complaining and secondly who got it into your head that we're normal?". He chuckled and I couldn't argue. Once again he held the door open as I made my way onto the not so wide ladder and started to climb up. I hadn't realized how long we were in the hotel room because now the stars were out and there was a chill in the air and I hadn't brought a jacket. "Babe, what have you planned? It's freezing and I'm tired". He didn't answer but when I stopped climbing to look back at him he just smiled and said "Trust me"
