I had no doubt in my mind that I would fall asleep. Ever since I was little I couldn't stay awake in cars or plane rides that were over three hours. In my attempt to be courteous I leaned against the window instead of leaning my seat back and cramming up the person's legs behind me. I let my thoughts wander into a place I couldn't explain.
I turned and walked around a corner into the dark, gloomy alley with Jake walking by my side. Out of thin air a man appeared and grabbed Jake by the arm and took off in a full blown sprint. For the second I saw the thief's face I knew it was worn by a deceitful man. I tried to run as fast as I could chasing the man and Jake like they were a prize, but something had my hand permanently anchored to where it was when the thief made his raid, causing my body to stretch out down the alley. The thing holding my hand was so peaceful yet worried at the same time, as if I hated it but was in love with at the time.
A caring voice sucked me out of the terror," Tayler, Tayler, Tayler!" Jake pleaded.
I felt a gentle hold on my hand and looked down at my arm that was resting on the arm rest of the uncomfortable plane seat. Tears formed in my eyes as I recalled the frightening dream and at the same time noticed it was Jake holding my hand.
I was curious why had I felt like I loved the thing keeping me from saving Jake but hated it at the same time. I just sat there and cried leaning against Jake. I was also surprised how Jake just comforted me, not even having the slightest clue of why I was crying while going on a mission trip to speak the word of God, to people who had no idea of his greatness. Jake and I rarely shared moments like this. We had been friends since the third grade and always shared the same the interest. Whether he was like my brother or my boyfriend I didn't know, but I had a deep feeling I would know when I was stepping back into America.
