"All I could think about was the girl next door"

---------------------------------------------

It's been two weeks since I have seen Araceli, two weeks since I have seen her beautiful face. I knew that she was alright, I have seen lights go off and on in her house when she was only there. She hadn't been outside in weeks and I becoming worried.

Her flowers had begun to wilt and lose its colors due to the lack of care. The outside of the house just looked dreadful. The patio swing had broken, there was numerous amounts of garbage surrounding the area.

I sighed and walked away from the window I was looking out of, grabbed my coat and ran downstairs almost crashing into Ryan.

"Where are you off to in such a rush?" He said with a concerning look.

"I'm just gonna go clean up outside a bit." I said walking to the door.

"You want me to help?"

I pondered it a bit, but then decided against it.

"No thanks Ry, I'll manage."

He just shrugged and walked away. I locked the door behind me and looked at the house across the street from where I stayed to see the sweet lady, Mrs. Orzechowski sitting with her small dog on her porch.

"Hello Mrs. O." I waved to make sure she would see who was talking to her.

"Hello sweet boy, how are you doing this morning?" I walk over to her.

"I'm doing amazing." Which was a lie. "How are you today?" She smiles at me causing her smile lines to increase.

"I'm doing fine for an old lady, my daughter is coming into town tomorrow and I would like for you to meet her."

She had a daughter?

"I would love to meet her Mrs. O, I'll bring Ryan by and we'll both meet her. How does around 3 sound?"

She smiles and strokes the small dog in her lap causing it to wag it's tail.

"That would be lovely, see you then." She waves at me as I exit the gate and go back to my house.

I take a look around and sigh. There was alot of work to do, and fast. I ran to the back of my house and grab the trash bins and wheel them over back to the front of the house and I got started.

I continued to do the other things just until the patio swing was the only thing left. I went to go grab my toolbox that I thought was in my room. I walk to the door and unlock it and walk inside.

"You back babe? What did Mrs. Orzechowski need?"

I stood there confused as to how he knew this. Was he watching me?

"Yeah.. She said her daughter would be coming into town later, and she wanted us to come meet her; and uh.. Hey were you watching me?" He walks past me and into the kitchen.

"Yeah and I saw what you were doing. Why were you getting stuff from her yard?"

I sighed and began to walk upstairs.

"Ryan we practically share this land, I was just being polite by cleaning up her yard and tending her garden. It's not a big deal!"

I said walking up the stairs and into my room where the tools were. I opened up the toolbox and seeing many assortment of tools arranged in order, but not seeing the ones I need.

"I was really hoping I wouldn't have to go down there" I sighed to myself. I grabbed my keys and ran downstairs out of the back door.

I walk out and over to the small seller that took up most of our backyard, so it only took me a few steps to get to it.

Deeply regretting what I was about to walk into, I unlocked the doors.

As if I had forgotten what I came here for I stood there for a while just staring down at the dark stairway.

My legs finally gave in and started to move down the stairs
