Gone

The drive was lasting forever.

First, we were both up for about 16 hours straight, so we were exhausted.  Second, the motel we stayed at as horrendous. I was pretty sure it had mice.

Okay, I'm not complaining on going with him, I loved him, it's just the drive, ugh!

"Hey, Sam," he said

I was about to drift off to sleep, so half awake I answered with, "Yea?"

"Hey, can we get a motel, soon? I'm pretty sure driving this sleepy is illegal and you can barely keep your eyes open, so you can't drive." Which was true.

"Yes, we can"

About 15 minutes later we drove up into a parking lot, of a disgusting motel. We got our bags from the Jeep, hoping they could spare us a room. Luckily, we got a room for $15, but I understood why.

The room could barely fit one person, let alone two. And every now and then we would here a bang, or a crash, and the horns on the highway would never seem to stop. The water was almost gray, and the couch was torn in such a way I coundn't explain if I tried.

"Well, I get left side!" shouted Jas as he ran to the couch to set his bag down. Leave it to Jasper to lighten the mood. I went over to the bed, and found a power outlet in the wall. I plugged my phone in, because it was almost dead. Then I remembered something.

"Jasper," I almost whispered "can I see the cuts?" He knew which ones I was referring to. He paused for an almost unnoticeable amount of time, but replied with, "No."

"Please? Just, let me inspect them, to make sure they aren't infected."

"I checked, they're fine."

"Jasper," I pleaded, as he turned around from the couch "I need to see them"

He sighed, drawing it out almsot to long. He sat on the only bed in the room and lifted his shirt. The cuts were horrible. I touched the most noticeable one, it was red and swollen, but not infected; just healing. He winced, groaning of the touch, but instead of that, we were silent the whole time.

He got up after a couple minutes, looking at me. His gray eyes met my hazel ones. I stood up, not breaking gaze.

"I'm gonna go change, so..." I almost whispered.

He took my face in his hand, I hadn't realized we were about 9 inches apart.

My heart was racing, getting faster by the second. I felt like I was going to burst, any second, but I hadn't.

He dropped his hand, stepping back a few steps. I grabbed my tank top and boxer shorts. I walked into the bathroom, then sighed. For a reason I can't explain, I sighed.

After I came out of the bathroom, Jasper was changed into only his blue fleece pants; no shirt, only fleece pants. He was laying on the bed watching the news. He looked at me, smiled a toothy smile and scooted over so I could laydown. It was a full sized bed, so it was really small, so we had to scoot close to each other with chances we wouldn't fall off.

Jasper turned off the light, and put his arm around me. It was cold, even though it was summer and we had a blanket (provided by me, saying it wasn't infested with termites, just yet).He was so warm, I could feel the heat radiating off him from a couple inches away He turned the light off, and relaxed his body. He started rubbing my arm,  knowing I got stressed/mad easily.

I fell asleep to the steady sound of his heart beating, slowing into the rhythm of sleep.
