To those of you who don't know what a mate is it is a soulmate.
Every werewolf has a mate. Most werewolves know there mate by scent and sight, but there are some cases where they have to touch to know. Most werewolves also find there mate by age 16-25 but if they don't they will just later on in life.
A mate is the most special and important thing that a werewolf can ever have. The mates can be between different species; such as werewolf x human, werewolf x werefox, ect.
The mating process is, first the male or domanint mate will mark the other by biting their neck, proving that they are in fact mates.
Next the have sex. And that completes the mating process! Simple as that...
Now a mate can reject the other, and the mate that has been rejected will most likely go into a deep depression.
The main reason for one rejecting the other would be like a bad history, or a general discust or hatred for the person.
If the mates don't meet or finish the mating process by age 18 they will go into heat.
Heat is when their whole body painfully flares up with heat and the only thing that can stop this is the mating process. This is there to ensure that werewolves reproduce or that they complete the mating process.
Heat can last up to an hour and pops up randomly. When a female is in heat, her scent becomes irresistible, and intrancing to males.
When the two mates have successfully mated they will have an everlasting bond and be able to read each other's thoughts.
