After Jimin left everything felt so foreign. Yoongi didn't know what to do. It's like his whole life was revolving around the sun that was Jimin. Yoongi didn't even know how to truly be happy with himself.
His apartment became a place where he could escape to when the day had been too much, which was often. Yoongi never knew just how much a small apartment could comfort him. When he was missing Jimin all he had to do was sit on his bed or on the couch and just close his eyes and the memories would come flooding back. He didn't understand why he did that, it would almost always end with tears rolling down his cheeks.
When he did leave his apartment it was for one of two reasons, his job, or his friends were forcing him to go do something. Yoongi realized after a few weeks that he had gotten immensely closer to his other friends.
When he was feeling down Jin and Namjoon were always there to comfort him. Yoongi got so close to them that he realized that their relationship wasn't all sunshine and rainbows like he had originally thought. The two were closer them any married couple Yoongi had ever seen but they still had their fights and whatnot.
When Taehyung and Jungkook missed Jimin they would always come to Yoongi. No one ever said that explicitly but Yoongi understood, and was thankful. Taehyung and Jungkook were always able to make him laugh and in many ways, the two boys filled a hole within him. They were always there for each other and they, Jungkook specifically, started looking up to Yoongi.
The thing that none of Yoongi's friends expected was the lack of music in Yoongi's life.
After Jimin left Yoongi couldn't even look at a piano. He couldn't bring himself too. If he looked at the piano it all seemed too real. The void would get too wide and Yoongi would fall through it. Their whole relationship seemed to revolve around the piano. Yoongi didn't even know what song to play without Jimin.
So, he quit.
Or, at least took a break. The day after Jimin left Yoongi went to the head of the school and explained his situation. He told the woman that he no longer had the motivation to play and that he felt like he wouldn't be able to teach his students the right way, the way they deserved to be taught. He asked if he could be the full-time music theory teacher instead of having two teachers for it and she agreed.
The months following Jimin's departure were hard and possibly the hardest times of Yoongi's life. Sad wasn't a good enough word to explain it. Yoongi felt numb. He felt lost and broken. There were some days when he would forget that Jimin left and for a split second he hoped to himself that when he got home the younger boy would be sitting on the couch watching one of his dramas. But he was never there and the emptiness that settled itself within Yoongi was the worst feeling Yoongi ever felt.
This all felt too cruel. Like the universe or God or whatever it was was playing a game with him. All his life Yoongi never understood what was so precious about love and why you feel love towards some and not others and the whole concept was so foreign to him. Everyone knew it as well. That's how Yoongi got his infamous nickname, emotionless min, a nickname he grew to hate.
But then Jimin came and Yoongi finally understood. He finally loved someone and gave himself completely over to another person. Jimin helped Yoongi blossom into a happy person and now, with Jimin gone, he felt like he was back to being his old self. An old self that Yoongi wanted to leave far, far behind but couldn't seem to do just that so without the help of one person.
So, a year had passed and Yoongi was still faking his happiness. Everyone knew it. They all noticed how Yoongi s smile didn't reach his eyes or if they walked into a room he was in alone the look of sadness was obvious on his face. Everyone knew, understood, but no one knew how to help.
