HARRY'S POV
Before we know it, we're in the wings of the stage. I can feel the pulse of the audience, everyone waiting with bated breath for Niall to appear.
He turns to me, his blue eyes sparkling. I can see now that his nerves have gone—replaced by sheer adrenaline and excitement. "Thank you, Harry. I don't know what I'd do without you."
I smile. "See you after the show," I whisper.
Then the entire stage goes dark and even the audience is quiet. You could hear a pin drop. The anticipation for Niall's performance is so thick, I don't know how he can bear it.
Niall takes a deep breath, then walks out onto the stage in near-complete darkness. I can just about make out his silhouette as I watch from the wings. He adjusts the microphone in its stand, shuffling his feet until he feels comfortable. Then he places his hands on the guitar and strums his first note. The sound reverberates around the theater.
The spotlight snaps on, he sings the first few bars of "The Tide," and the screaming cheers from the 4,500-strong audience rise into a roar.
And that's when I realize that I'm crying.
I swayed my hips as the song went on; my eyes filled with tears.
I sung along to each of the words; watching Niall as he stood there in his moment. It was so magical and electric, like he's meant to be there. I then started to look at Louis and Zayn, who were singing along in the background and playing along. This is all so insane.
The songs continued on, after You & Me, he brought the microphone up to his lips. "Thank you so much for enjoying our songs, I have one more for you guys, however I have to do something first." I felt Niall glance over at me; making my heart jump out of my skin.
"As you all know, my boyfriend Harry is very dear to me; and I want to make that clear to him and to you tonight." What is he about to do?
"Now this song I wrote with him in mind, the lyrics, the medley, everything is just, him. And before I sing it, I just have to do this." He pulled out a box from his pocket; the crowd all of a sudden went silent again; I felt frozen, like I'm not sure what's happening.
Then I felt someone pull my arm; it was Louis, he was guiding me to Niall. Niall got down on one knee and looked up at me, still holding the microphone. "Harry, I've treated you so so horrible, and theres no way to describe it. You didn't deserve it, or anything you have gone through. But you've stuck with me through everything, and I just know that you are my soulmate. Harry, will you marry me?" I felt the crowds eyes gaze on me as I frantically nodded. Niall put the ring on my finger and got up, hugging me tightly and kissing my cheek, I didn't want him to let go.
"I love you, Niall."
"I love you too, Harry."
Then I was guided back off stage; as Niall started playing the first few chords of Fire Away.
