On January 8th 1935 in Tupelo Mississippi musician and actor Elvis Aron Presley was born.
Elvis and his parents Gladys and Vernon Presley lived in a small two bedroom shotgun house.The house was built by Elvis's father Vernon Presley before he was born.
Elvis was supposed to be a twin but his brother Jesse Garon (sometimes spelled Jessie) did not make it out alive when he was born that day.The doctor said that Jesse's airway was closed off before he and Elvis were born that day.
When Gladys and Vernon heard that this had happened to Jesse they quickly grabbed Elvis and put him in a box and put the box in the oven. This was done so they could save what later became as Elvis Aron Presley.
Elvis got his first name from his father Vernon.They chose this to be his first name because it was Vernon's middle name. This is why his mother Gladys chose this to be his first name.
Elvis was raised to have a strong faith in god.Elvis and his parents were members of a church called The Assembly Of God Church.The church was owned by Gladys brother Black Leather.
This is were gospel music became a strong influence for Elvis.During Elvis' childhood Gladys Became very protective of her son Elvis.Gladys would often worry about Elvis for number of reasons. These reasons were about his health or his safety. When Elvis was not home Gladys would be even more worried about Elvis knowing that he was not around her.
