-Zac's POV

Criiiing! Criiiiing!!!

Yes.

The whole class is like a busy supermarket on its rush sale day as soon as the school bell rings marking the end of classes and the beginning of summer break.

Great. Now I have more time to relax, maybe go to the beach, hit on some hot chick in a bikini and get my mind off from school work...not.

I glance down at my desk and look at the piece of paper that my environmental sciences teacher, Mrs. Bennett, gave a few minutes ago.

I scan it for a few seconds and damn!

Who in their right mind would do a thousand-word essay about trees in their summer vacation?!

Mrs. Bennett really did a great job in ruining my summer.

I quickly shove the paper inside my bag and hastily make my way out of the classroom.

As I walk out of the classroom and through the busy hallway, I feel my phone vibrating in my ragged jeans' side pocket.

I quickly reach for it and see my mom's face pop out on the screen. I push the answer button immediately.

"Hi mom, what's u--"

"You're in a heap of trouble, young man." my mom interrupts sounding very angry.

"Wha-- why? what did I do?" I ask cluelessly as I walk faster through the hallway.

"You come home this instant... and we're gonna have a nice talk with Officer Schmidt." she says, hanging up without waiting for my reply or even saying goodbye.

I sigh, Oh shit.

I walk past the locker hall and through the main door not bothering to look at the people who call me.

I see Chris and the gang waving at me but I just passed them by due to my conversation with mom just a few minutes ago.

I run outside to the parking lot and quickly ride my car.

Our house is just a fifteen-minute ride from school. I used to think that it's great to have your house close to your school because that way you can oversleep in mornings. But now, I wish that our house was in the next town or maybe... in another country.

I start the engine of my car, put my seatbelt on and after a few minutes, I find myself a few blocks from our school.

I intently drive slowly and distract myself with my thoughts. I think about stuff, mostly unimportant, just to keep my mind busy so that I can take my time driving.

I don't want to go home right now.

I don't even know why I left school in such a hurry. I should've just chatted with some of my friends or maybe hang out with them for a while but I didn't.

Even though I don't want to go home and face the trouble that I have put myself into, I still feel the need to go home.

And now I'm chickening out.

I intentionally use a longer way home to pass time.

As I am about to turn right at a corner, something pops out of nowhere from the right side and crashes into my car.
