Izuku was young when he lost his eyes, he didn't see it coming. No one did. The last thing he saw was the flashing of claws and then everything was dark. Forever. He was four years old. Everything from that moment on was fuzzy, he couldn't see anymore. He was blind. He couldn't go to a normal school anymore. He wasn't normal anymore. And that hurt him more than the blindness.
He could sometimes hear his mother crying in her room and he could feel his eyes sting but he couldn't see his vision blurring and that was when it really set in. His eyes were gone for good.
But they weren't...
He could vaguely remember himself walking around his house when he heard a scream coming from outside. At this point he six years old. He toddled outside and just tilted his head. He heard a loud growl come from beside him and then a scream of his name, and then everything was gone.
Izuku had woken up a week later, he later found out that a feral Arbok had gotten into the small community where he lived, and that the only reason why he was alive is that a wild Riolu came to his rescue and hadn't left his side since. And nearly ten years later, he's still there.
Riolu became his first Pokémon unofficially at first and then Professor Woods decided that he could keep the Riolu. Izuku was ecstatic and when he went to go to Rio he saw a burst of color. Startled, he yelped and fell down. His mother rushed in and when he told her he just heard her sobbing.
His second Pokémon however, was a much different story.
Izuku was nine years old and he was practicing aura control with Rio outside in his small backyard. While he was using aura, he could make out a faint shape that was moving. Thinking that it was nothing more than a Caterpie, he ignored it. After a successful practice, he heard the apparent Caterpie again and went over to where he last sensed it. He stuck his hand out and wet nose nudged it, causing him to pull back quickly. He felt Rio come up next to him and heard him sniff the pokémon in front of him.
He heard it whimper and he reached out again, allowing it to crawl up into his arms. He laid a hand on top of it gently, allowing it to get used to the soft touch. He slowly got up from his crouched position and started to walk back inside with Rio guiding him.
It's been six years since then... Izuku was now standing at the front of the building where the most important exam of his life would take place. The U.A Battle School Exam...

Shouto hated fire. He hated the heat and the scalding pain that came with it, both mentally and physically. His father was one of the Johto Elite Four and he forced his son to do the same. Shouto was young when his mother was taken away because she burned him. His first "companion" was a Charmander. His father constantly forced him to fight. Shouto couldn't beat his father and out of anger, Enji killed the Charmander by extinguishing the flame on his tail and then forced him to fight with his Magmar. Shouto cried that day.
His second companion was a gift from his older sister, Fuyumi. An Alolan Vulpix. Shouto loved her with all of his heart and never let his father go near her. He named her Trix. He was six at the time.
He doesn't remember much about his childhood other than constant heat. Constant hatred and anger was always directed at him. He never felt love or real joy. He never really lived. He still hasn't. Todoroki Shouto had almost everything handed to him. Except a loving and caring family. He grew cold, never allowing himself to use fire-type pokémon or their moves.
He was at "home" when the exams were taking place. And he wouldn't meet his soulmate until a week later.
