Real Life

"You okay back there?" Sam asked Flynn who was staring out his window of the car. He simply nodded his head at her and turned back to the scenery out the glass. 

They drove for another fifteen minutes before pulling up at the cemetery. Harrison got out of the car and opened the back door for Flynn to get out. 

"I can't do it," The boy said, biting his lip. Sam walked around the car and to the open door where her cousin and boyfriend were. 

"Yes you can Flynn" Sam put a hand on the boy's shoulder "They would want you to be strong" 

After another couple minutes of internal debate, Flynn nodded and got out of the car. The trio wordlessly entered the building. They were led into a big room with rows of seats up either side. They each took a seat at the front as others came through the door. 

Many people came up to Flynn and gave their condolences but all he did was nod in response. Charles walked up to them and took a seat next to Flynn, they were always very close as Charles' sister was Flynn's mother. 

The ceremony started and finished in a blur, it was filled with boring speeches and once it was over they all filed out and into the foyer. Flynn and Harrison stood in a corner quietly as Sam was forced to talk to family. A few minutes later Sam walked back up to the boys, a big red lipstick stain on each cheek. 

"What happened to you?" Harrison joked, earning a small laugh from the younger boy next to him. 

"Let me guess..." Flynn started "Great Aunt Beverly and her over lipsticked lips" 

"Her and Great Aunt Ronda. Where one goes..." Sam said. 

"The other follows" Flynn finished, before turning to Harrison "The family have said that since before I was born. It's like they are joined at the hip or something" 

Harrison was about to say something before Sam and Flynn's grandmother came over. 

"Oh dear, I do hope Beverly and Ronda weren't too bad- oh. Hello young man who are you?" The elderly woman said looking at Harrison. Flynn said something about going to find Mason and Dean before leaving the couple alone with their grandmother. 

"This is Harrison, grandma" Sam said before continuing "my boyfriend" 

The woman looked Harrison up and down before nodding once and turning away. 

"So does she like me?" Harison said turning to Sam. 

"Yes, don't worry she's a little odd at times. She nodded at least. Now, let's go find Arden and Grace" Sam said, grabbing Harrison's hand and dragging him into the crowd.
