Chapter 5

The next day I was woken up by the sound of pots and pans banging and loud talking. I get out of bed and walk downstairs.

Max: “Ahh! There she is!”

Nathan: “Mornin’ Kristi! How did you sleep?”

Me: “I slept great actually!” I found it unusual how I get a bit nervous every time Nathan spoke to me. But then again… I think I’m starting to develop a crush on him!

Siva: “You want some breakfast?” He asked struggling with the eggs in the pot.

Me: “Uh… I think I’ll just stick to cereal for now.” I said laughing

Siva: “You sure? I make some pretty good eggs!”

Jay: “Seev, if you made “pretty good eggs” you wouldn’t be struggling right now.”

Siva: “Oh hush you!”

Everyone was laughing. Even in the morning these guys could make you laugh! I think I could get used to living here.

Max: “So what are the plans for today?”

Jay: “We can go to the park! It’s a really nice day. Why let it go to waste?”

Siva: “That’s a great idea! Maybe we’ll bring the girls too!”

Me: “What girls?”

Siva: “Our girlfriends of course! I’m sure they’d love to meet you!”

Me: “Oh! Okay!” I said with a smile on my face. Did Nath have a girlfriend too?

Max: “Well everyone get ready! We don’t want to waste any time!”

I went upstairs and took a shower, brushed my teeth and washed my face. I looked through my closet to see what I was going to wear for the day. I decided to put on a purple top with a vest, skinny jeans and boots. As soon as I went downstairs everyone was ready to go. I was passing the room when I heard Nathan on the phone.

Nathan: “Hey babe what’s up? Oh I’m great! I was wondering if you wanted to come with us to the park today? We’re leaving now. Okay see you there! Love you, bye!”

So he does have a girlfriend... My heart sunk a little. Yes, I liked him, but I wasn’t in love with him… Yet…

*At the park*

A few minutes after we got to the park I saw 5 girls walking towards us. They all went to each of their boyfriends and gave them a hug and a kiss. Max grabbed me by the arm pulling me over to where everyone was.

Max: “Girls I’d like you to meet my sister Kristi!”

Michelle: “Max you never told me you had a sister! Hi I’m Michelle nice to meet you!”

Me: “It’s nice to meet you too!”

Max: “Oh and this is Nareesha, Siva’s girlfriend, Katie Nathan’s girlfriend, Kelsey Tom’s girlfriend and Juliet Jay’s girlfriend!”

Me: “Hi! Nice to meet you all!”

Jay: “Now let’s go have some fun today!”

We did lots of things at the park. We played Frisbee, had a picnic, and took a walk and talked about things. It was a really nice day but there was one thing that was bothering me. Every time I saw Nathan and Katie together, my crush on him got deeper and the pain got even worse. I just didn’t know what to do! Then Tom walked over.

Tom: “Kristi are you feeling okay? You look like you’re about to cry…”

Me: “Haha.. Why? I’m totally fine. You just go back over there and have fun. I’m going to call my aunt and tell her how things are going okay?” I gave him a weak smile

Tom: “Alright then. But if you have any problems don’t be afraid to talk to me or one of the boys!”

Me: “Thanks Tom.”

As soon as he went back over there I went somewhere far so no one could hear the conversation between me and my aunt.

Aunt: “Hello?”

Me: “Hi Aunt Mary it’s me.”

Aunt: “Oh hello Kristi! How are you? And how is everything so far?”

Me: “I’m great! How are you? And I called because I’m having a bit of a problem…”

Aunt: “I see now. What’s your problem dear?”

Me: “Well you see… I think I’m starting to fall for one of Max’s band mates but he has a girlfriend. Every time I see them together, the crush gets deeper and the pain gets worse but I really don’t want to tell anyone how I feel because I’m embarrassed and I really don’t want to ruin anything.”

Aunt: “Ahh boy troubles.” She said while chucking. “All I can say to you is to just follow your heart! And don’t worry what anyone else thinks. I know you’re shy, but you just have to learn to let that go sometime. You never know, maybe if you do tell him how you feel, he’ll feel the same way.”

Me: “Thank you for the advice auntie.”

Aunt: “Any time! And remember that I’m always here for you!”

Me: “I will! And tell the boys I said hi and I miss them!”

Aunt: “I will dear. Talk to you soon!”

Me: “Bye!”

The conversation with my aunt didn't really make me feel that much better. I decided that it was best for me not to say anything and try to make it seem that I don’t have feelings for him. Once I got back to where everyone was I felt a bit awkward.

Jay: “Where have you been? We were all worried!”

Me: “Oh I was just talking on the phone with my aunt. Just keeping in touch with her that’s all.”

Jay: “Okay then.”

Katie: “Nath do you wanna go for a walk?”

Nathan: “Sure babe.”

They got up and walked off. For some reason, I get the feeling that Katie doesn’t like me at all. 10 minutes after they left I had to use the bathroom so I went to go. I was just walking and minding my own business when I turned the corner and saw something that I didn’t really want to see…
