Henry

Her screams echoed off every wall.
I knew then that it had happened and I was afraid of what was to come.Jordan
The gun was still aimed at us.
When he saw me poke my head out he had this evil grin and it scared the hell out of me. I hid behind Zeke thinking I was going to die tonight. That I will never know the truth about my fathers' death.I never had a gun pointed at me before so my heart was pounding in my ears, my body was tensed, tears fell down my face. With shaking hands I gripped the back of Zekes jacket praying that he would keep his promise. As if he heard my thoughts he spoke softly, "Jordan, when I say go I need you to run." I shook my head and cried harder. "I can't. I'm scared." I mumbled. "It's okay. I'll be right behind you. I'll protect you. I promise." He didn't turn around, still looking at the end of the alley. When I looked around him the man was closer. This made my heart beat faster.
"Oh little girl. Why must you hide from me? I just wanna play with you. It will be fun. What do you say?" His voice made my stomach turn.
"Fuck off! You'll have to go through me to get to her!" Zeke was now shaking. I didn't know what to do.
"Jordan run" he took off running towards the man. I know I was confused, he said he will be right behind me. "Go Jordan!" I turned around and ran for my life.A couple of gunshots went off and I felt the bullets as they went pass me, but the third shot hit me in the shoulder. I tripped over my own feet and went tumbling. Glass and rocks dug into my hands and the side of my face.
My ears were ringing and everything was spinning so fast. I heard someone scream in the distance but I couldn't make out what was happening. I rolled over onto my back, my eyes shut from the pain. When I opened them my heart dropped and I tried to back away but I wasn't fast enough.
"Hello princess. It looks like your little boyfriend couldn't keep you safe. I wonder what the boss man will do to you. You know what! We should go see him!" He smiled at me and grabbed me by my hair. Yanking me up as if it was nothing. I wanted to scream but I was terrified and my focus was on my bleeding shoulder.
"Please. Don't do this! I'm begging you!" Hot tears ran down my face. I begged the man to let me go.
"Oh no. The boss man will never forgive me." He squeezed my shoulder and I cried out. We began walking back but something caught my eye.
Something moved in the shadows. The man didn't see it so he kept walking dragging me with him.
"Let her go James!" The voice that I was dying to hear. He's alive! He came for me. "Ah. You live. Sorry Prince Charming but you know the rules." James said in a hard tone.
He grabbed my wrist pulling me in front of him and facing me towards Zeke. He pulled a knife out from one of his pockets and held it firmly against my throat. I stiffened and this made James chuckle.
"I said let her go James. I will kill you!" He looked like he didn't know what he was going to do. Then I seen what he had in his hand. I held my breath, I closed my eyes, and I didn't move until I knew it was over.
The gun echoed off the walls making my ears ring once again.
I heard the knife drop and the weight of James holding me disappeared. I was turning around to look at my attacker when Zeke stopped me. Grabbing my face in both of his hands as if he was making sure I was still there. He looked me up and down for any wounds. He eyes landed on my shoulder and he was examining it.
"The bullet went through. That's a good thing. I'm glad you're alright. Let's go get you cleaned up." He took my hand and we started walking.I heard an annoying beeping sound. Why is there beeping in my dream? I opened one of my eyes and the sun light was slowly making its way into my room. I rolled over and turned my alarm clock off. Pulling the covers over my head was the wrong thing to do. My shoulder throbbed at the slightest movement. Did I sleep on it wrong again? Moving it again I hissed in pain. Sitting up I examined it and a big purple bruise was where I was shot at. I had to talk to Zeke about this. I don't understand any of this.
Throwing the covers off of me with my good arm I went to go get ready for school. As always my mother, sister and I ate breakfast before we left for school.
It was quite and tense at the table. You could slice the tension with a knife. I was about to speak when the door bell rang. Getting up from my seat I went to the door excepting Henry, but I was met with bright green eyes.
"I thought we should talk about last night" Was the first thing he said not missing a beat. The only thing I could do was shake my head. My mom walked up behind me and placed a hand on my shoulder. "Ah. We haven't met before. My name is Blaire. Jordan's mother. Nice to meet you-" she waited for him to answer. "Zeke. It's a pleasure ma'am " he shook my mothers hand smiling. "Henry couldn't pick her up today so he asked if I could." He was waiting for my mothers answer. "Oh. Yes Zeke. That's fine. Y'all have a good day at school." I gave my mom a weird look. Since when did she just let me go off with strangers?
Henry and her had a two hour talk. I don't know what it was about and they never told me, but she just said yes to him.
"Uhm. Let me go get my bag." Walking back to my room I grabbed my backpack and went back down stairs. Zeke was standing at the door waiting for me. I raised one of my eyebrows at him "so where is Henry?" He looked at me and shrugged. Opening the door I walked outside and breathed in the fresh air. Zeke walked by and his shoulder slightly touching mine as he passed by and got in his car. I followed and got in the passenger side."So Zeke..? What do you want to talk about?" I looked at him through my eyelashes. "It's not a good time Jordan. Just know I'll keep you safe. Henry will keep your mother and sister safe. They will be coming soon. Just do what I told you in the dream. Listen to it and remember."
I couldn't reply so I just looked out the window.
