The Boy In All Black

I found out the reason Zeke took me to school. My best friend asked him too! Like who does that. All of a sudden everyone is okay with leaving me with a boy we don't even know.

"You okay" he looks at me while placing his hand on my thigh. "I'm fine. Why?" I moved and my shoulder started hurting. I forgot that I was shot in the shoulder. How could I forget to burning pain.

"I need to look at it. You woke up before I could treat your wound." He looks sad. "Is that a bad thing? It's only bruised but it's burning and I can't really move my shoulder." Placing my hand on my shoulder hissing when the weight of my hand comes in contact with it. School is going to be impossible.

"I have to treat it in the dream Jordan. I can't do it here. I'm sorry"  he gripped the stirring wheel harder. I placed my hand on his arm and gave him a smile "I'll be okay. You can look at it tonight."

We pulled into the school parking lot. I let out a loud sigh. This is going to be impossible.
We got out of the car and as soon as both doors had shut almost everyone was looking at us. I ignored them as best as I could as I looked for Henry.

I found him leaning against his truck and a very sad Nicole walking away. What did this idiot do now. Not only did he have a upset girlfriend but he managed to piss off his best friend.

Walking over to him he had that  dumb smile on when he knows he did something wrong "what's up best friend?"

"What the hell Henry?" I poked his chest giving him my best angry stare. "What did I do?" He tilted his head gave me those dumb puppy eyes. I did my best to ignore him. I wasn't even that mad at him. Just at the fact that we don't know Zeke that well. "You told HIM to pick me up and take me to school." Before I could say anything else the bell rung. I turned around and started walking to my class.

The school day went by uneventful. I made Henry take me home. His big goofy self made me laugh the entire ride home.

When I walked into the house I could hear the sound of the piano. The beautiful melody made me forget everything that happened today. Sky really did have a wonderful gift.

I walked into the living room and I saw her sitting on the bench. I was worried about her. She's been getting sick a lot lately. "Hey Sky. How are you feeling?" She turned around "What? I'm fine." She smiled the best she could. I didn't say anything we just stared at each other. A few  minutes went by and we both burst out laughing. We laughed so hard we were crying.

We moved to the couch and I was the first to speak "Zeke came and picked me up for school."I'm not happy about it that much. I wanted to talk to Henry and forget about the dreams for a little. "Is that the guy with the pretty green eyes and black hair? He's hot!" I chuckled and shook my head. Of course she would say that. "That's him. He is kind of hot. Tan skin, bright green eyes, black hair, and those muscles. I just don't understand why he wears all black, it's creepy." Im thinking about him and the way he looks at me with eyes so sad.  I feel her poking me "Maybe that's his favorite color? OR he might be hiding from someone?" I wish I could have hidden from the entire school "OH MY GOD! You should have seen everyone staring at us when I got out of his car. I hate people staring at me." Sky laid her head on me and I feel her head "Sky you have a fever. Come on let's get you in bed so you can rest."

I got Sky settled in bed waiting for her to fall asleep so I will know she is getting rest. As soon as she fell sleep I walked into my room so I could start on some homework. As I was finishing up my math homework there was a tapping noise coming from my window, when I looked over a nearly jumped out of my skin.

"Zeke?" I whispered as soon as I open the window. He came in the room without saying a word. The entire time I just watched him waiting for him to explain why he was here. "I couldn't get you on your phone, so I thought something happen." he looked worried. "As you can tell I'm fine." I blushed looking at the floor. Why am I blushing? I shook the thought away. He grabbed my hand and leaned in close "If anything would have happen to you I would never forgive myself." Hearing him say this made my heart skip a beat. I cannot be falling for him. No way in hell.

"Why do you always look so sad when you look at me?" I wanted a answer. Henry was the same way when we met. Thankfully he started acting like his self.

He looked down when he spoke "I wish I could tell you but I can't. It's not the right time and I'm not the one who was meant to. With time everything will come to light in time. I promise."

He looked at me and gave me a small smile. Well it's a start I guess. I have to trust him after all he said he would protect me.

It was almost time for my mom to be home from work. Zeke didn't want me to be alone and I didn't want to be either. "My mom won't be so happy I have a guy in my room." I smiled. "I'll see you later Jordan." he walked over to the window and I followed, not wanting him to leave just yet. He was halfway out the window when he reached for my hand and gave it a tender kiss. He slipped into the darkness and I pulled my hand to my chest smiling.

My mom came home and came to check on me. We talked for a few minutes until we heard Sky coughing. Running down the hall and into her bedroom she was leaning against the headboard clutching her chest. "Sky?" my mom rushed to her side holding her close. "Tell me what's wrong baby." my mothers voice was soft. All she got for an answer was coughing. I walked over to the side of the bed to turn on the lamp that was on her nightstand. As I turned around I felt my heart stop, Sky had stop coughing but there was blood in her hands. I looked at my mom and our eyes met and I knew what to do. As I was packing things that Sky would need my mother began to get Sky out of bed. We got in the car and rushed to the hospital. Her skin was pale, and it was getting harder for her to catch her breath after a coughing fit. As soon as we walked into the hospital my mother started yelling at a nurse, demanding her to help Sky who was in my arms coughing uncontrollably. A few minutes went by and a couple of nurses were coming straight towards us with a bed. I laid her down gently and kissed her forehead letting her know I was there. My mother and I followed the group as they started pushing her to the ICU. A nurse stopped us when the rest went through the double doors " Y'all will have to wait here. She is in good hands. Do not worry." she kindly said. I looked over and my mother was shaking. I could tell she wanted to march back there to make sure Sky was okay but she finally sighed and muttered an 'ok'.

As soon as we found a seat in the waiting area I pulled out my phone to text Henry and Zeke. "In the hospital. Sky isn't doing so good. She is in the ICU." They both replied in a matter of seconds telling me they were on the way. So I sat there waiting for my best friend and the boy who promised me he would protect me.
