It's the third day Steve wanders onto the street, the third day without James on his side and the third day without a home.. without a roof above his head.
He sticks his hands into his pockets as he slides down at the riverside and looks at the streaming water somewhere in front of him.
Hours later he hears footsteps form behind him and slowly sit down next him in the grass. "Hello." the voice says.
Steve remains silent.
"Are you alright?" the voice asks.
Steve looks at the face next him, it's a girl, a young girl. He seems surprised she actual looks real.
"Are you okay?" the girl asks.
Steve looks back at the river, not talking but he shoves his hands out of the pockets from the coat he stole from James. He simply lifts the sleeve a bit and turns it to the girl.
Her eyes widen as she reads the fresh words been cut into his arm.
'PLEASE KILL ME' and 'JAMES FORGIVE ME' followed by a symbol of a broken heart.
"Who's James?" the girl asks carefully.
"I think he was my friend..." Steve says softly. Squeezing his wrist with a hand, letting the burning pain from the slowly healing cuts burn through him.
"Do you want some hot chocolate? I live in that house... I've seen you sitting here fir a few hours... yesterday I saw you too." She explains.
'Say no.' the voice in Steve's head forces him but he ignores it.
"please..." Steve whispers.
"Come." the girl says as she stands up.
Steve pushes him up weakly. lack of sleep, lack of food... lack of everything. He follows her to the house. The frontdoor opens and a satisfying heat forms soon around Steve. He takes his shoes off and follows the girl to the kitchen as she makes him hot chocolate. he slides into a chair and takes the coat off, a striped black white shirt shows up, covered with brown/orange dots and lines from dried blood.
The girl places the hot chocolate in front of him.
Steve stares at it and slowly touching the hot cup with his damaged fingers. His blonde hair falling in front of his eyes as he bends forward and takes a careful sip.
"What happened to you?" the girl asks.
Wanting to ignore her he hears a little bit of force into her voice and decides to talk. "I got kicked out by my friend, I saved him but falling in love was a bad choice... he grieves over the loss of his girlfriend and I suddenly kissed him... it was a dare from the voice in my head..." Steve says.
"grieving from loss?" She asks.
Steve nods. " James' girlfriend died because a mistake he made." he says.
"What mistake?" she asks.
"That's privacy." Steve says, protective towards James. Steve sighs and drinks the hot chocolate, closing his eyes to feel the taste heat his nearly frozen body.
