We are betrayed by what is false within- George Meredith

My mind was focused on the creature in front of me.

It changed its form with every passing second. Shadows swirled around it, creating it and at the same time concealing its true form.
The only steady things were its eyes. I knew who they belonged to, but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't escape this state of mind I was in.

Time became meaningless, moments were measured in the energy left in me and as it went lower, my hope sank with it. I didn't even know for what I hoped any more.

Freedom?

Even if I eventually got free, I would never know freedom; none of us will. All werewolves were bound to their fates. No matter what, it was supposed to happen and no one could escape. So one's freedom was always determined by their fate, never leaving them their own choice.

His power seemed to crush me. The words of the creatures were working like a spell on me, weakening my resistance.
Thought of surrender crossed my mind and as soon as my attention was shortly focused on it, the block I had built around me, slowly seemed to crumble.

A small slip in my concentration and he won the over-hand. He made quick work, pushing all his powers against my spot of weakness. I still fought against it, but it was only a question of time.

Suddenly a memory crossed my mind. I heard the voice of my father telling me, I would never be a good fighter, since I always gave up too fast.
At this thought, anger cursed through me. I had gotten all the way here, fighting my way through the forest alone for years. I may not be a physical fighter, but I had survived after all and I would continue to survive in body and in mind.

This time I wouldn't give up.

Power rose in me, as I finally felt the welcoming presence of my wolf again. Hope found its way back into my thoughts even as my wolf claimed me. This time I didn't fight it, giving her the control without a fight.

She began to make a soft humming sound, an enchanting melody, putting me in a peaceful set of mind. The sound grew in volume, which visibly shook the opposing creature. It seemed confused and disorientated for a moment, which eased the pushing of power off me.

My surroundings were suddenly tainted in a golden light, separating my opponent and me. The light pushed forward, finding its way to the black creature. Before the light could touch it however, the creature let out an ear-piercing howl and emerged completely into the darkness.

Silence fell around

My drained body went numb and as my wolf went back into nothingness, the darkness around me grew once again, inviting me as I surrendered.

Red eyes locked with mine.
Their gaze was full of anger, but the person they belonged to, didn't stand as close to me as before. The Alpha kept his distance, his angered eyes betraying the only emotion.

I waited for a moment; now that I was conscious I expected another strike and in fear awaited the strange, hurting feeling. But he didn't move and after another minute I somewhat relaxed.

"What did you do?" His voice sounded restrained and rough, different from the commanding tone he had used earlier.

"I- I still don't know", my gaze wavered for a second as I looked away. His eyes seemed to bore into mine and it made me uncomfortable. He didn't seem pleased with my answer. His face didn't show his dissatisfy, but I could sense it in his aura.
