Chapter 7 Give a Girl Some Pants
Sona P.O.V.
I felt the quick stabbing pain of something being injected into my arm and the familiar metal examination table beneath my cotton clothed back. The faint sound of voices made their way into my ears, ones that I recognized ever so slightly. There was Wyatt, and Jace, or Adams as he would prefer to be called, the boy who had rescued me the night of the bombing and the girl who had protested to his action. The soft click of the doorknob being turned and the creaking noise of the hinges welcomed a new visitor.
“What have you done to her?” it was Renee. What surprised me is that she sounded astonished, horrified, even though she had only known me for maybe a hour, and conversed with me for a minute, she was already concerned about me.
“She is waking up. We need to drug her again if we are to reconnect the machine properly to her again. Jace, hand me the needle.” It was a calm and caring voice, one of a mother, or maybe the nurse in the waiting room.
“Here Dr. White.” Jace replied. I could only guess he had handed the needle to the doctor by now. I began to open my eyes, seeing a woman of maybe 20 years dressed in white lab coat, but shut them before anyone could notice.
“Okay now, 3, 2-“ I cut off her count down my throwing up my arm and grabbing her wrist firmly between my fingers to stop her from jabbing me with the sharp needle.
“No you don’t!” I even surprised myself with the confidence I had been showing lately. Give a girl a nice pair of pants and she can run the world. “You are not sticking that thing into my arm again. It hurts and I don’t even want to tell you about the dreams I have once that thing gets into my system. It’s like world war 4 all over again, but in my head.”
I sat up fully and surveyed my surroundings. I was in the same room I had woken up in originally, but this time there were starring in shock at me. But because of my now sudden need to test out this new confidence, I continued to speak.
“Now, I have never been very good at name but let’s give this a try now! Wyatt,” I said pointing to the rainbow eyed boy “Jace,”
“It’s Adams. Only family calls me Jace.” He replied stone face.
“Well, consider me your new little sister.” Jace glared at me, well, at least I now he does actually have emotions now.
“You know Jacy-poo, I think I may never learn to like you.”
“The feeling is mutual.” He replied, obviously hating my nick name.
I turned to face the woman in the lab coat. She had brown hair that had been pulled back into a messy ponytail and warm chocolate brown eyes. Her face was round and kind looking, but it was hard to ignore the needle she held.
“Dr. White, I would say pleased to meet you, but considering you were about to stab me in the arm with that horrible needle, I think I’ll pass on my manners.” I know it was rude, but that needle really hurt.
I turned again to face the two other people who were in the room. My eyes feel on the first. He was a tall muscular boy. I recognized him from the bombing, but only slightly. The other was a girl with wild red hair, but she wasn’t showing me her face.
“I know you, you’re the nice guy from the bombing.” I said pointing to the boy “That means you, are fox.” I shifted my hand over to the girl. Surprisingly, the boy seemed surprised my quick assumptions of rolls.
“No one guesses who she is on the first try.” He said, his voice astonished “They think she’s a guy, or older or something.”
I sighed, and ran my fingers through my knotted hair again. How stupid did these people think I was?
“Well, it kind of obvious, isn’t it? You see, Jace here said he was going to take me to Fox, which means it would have to be someone here. Not Jace or Wyatt, nor the Doctor because you would have addressed her as Fox, not Dr. White. Couldn’t be you because it’s clearly a feminine animal. A guy would want to be called Wolf, or maybe bear. But not fox. Plus, she has red hair, the color of a Fox.”
After my little speech, the girl began to lift her head. When our eyes connected I knew who she was.
The girl from the wanted poster.
