Chapter 7

Thank God. “And I’m mated right? I’m mated to Colton.”

He nodded his head and he looked like he questioned my sanity. “Yes, you’re mated to Colton and you were attacked. Your leg was really torn up.” Tears escaped me, and I fell into Nate. “It’s okay Tala. You’re safe now.” I hugged my brother tighter.

“I’m so happy.”

“Happy? Happy you were attacked? Tala did you hit your head?”

“No. But I had some awful dreams.” Nate carried me and sat me down on the couch. “Where is everybody?”

“Pack meeting. They’re trying to figure out what to do with the rogue?”

“Rogue?”

“Yes. The wolf that attacked you. You were still on our territory. He attacked you so you wouldn’t let others know he was there.”

“Is Colton there?”

“No.” I looked up and he was in the doorway. My sweet Colton. I hopped up. I tried to stay steady on one foot but I wasn’t very balanced. Colton came to me and he wrapped his arms around me. I buried my face in his chest. His amazing smell rushed up my nose and I breathed it in. I nuzzled his chest and my body was full of warmth.

“Don’t. Ever. Do. That. Again” he said slowly. He put his head on top of mine.

“Okay” I said. Colton pulled back. I looked at him and his silver eyes were like pools of steel. Colton leaned down and ever so gently kissed me. The electricity came back and I forgot to keep my leg up. At the touch of the floor it hurt. I yelped and pulled away. I looked down and lifted my leg back up.

Colton picked me up and he sat down in a chair. He wrapped his arms around me and buried his face in my neck. My back was against his chest and his heat flowed into me. I looked at Nate and he smiled as he got up.

When we were alone Colton said “Never scare me like you did. I thought I lost you.” He placed a light kiss on my neck.

“I’m sorry Colton. I didn’t mean to. I…I just felt like I needed to get away and by the time I admitted I needed you I was lost. Then that wolf came out of nowhere.” I was silent and all I could hear was his heart beating. “I missed you.”

“I missed you too. I understand what you said in our fight. I need to apologize to you when I do something that hurts you.” He gave me another kiss and it tickled me. I giggled and felt even more comfortable in his arms. “I am sorry for everything that I have done to hurt you. I do not mean to.” He gave me another kiss. This one not so innocent. “You must be patient with me. I am not used to this.” I laughed.

“I’ll be gentle with you.” I could feel Colton’s smile on my neck.

Colton moved me, so that my legs would drape over the arm of the chair. Colton held me close and for a while whispered sweet words into my ear. Mom and dad came home late that night.

“Tala you’re up” Dad said. He came in and looked at me with caring eyes. “How’s your leg?”

“It hurts, but I’m okay.” Mom came in and examined my leg.

“The doctor said you were very lucky. That awful creature nearly took off your leg.”

“Mom what’s going to happen to him?”

Her eyes got colder. “Honey they already handed down his sentence. He was killed.” Oh well never mind.

They said goodnight and left me with Colton. He was just holding me, rubbing his hand up and down my arm.
