The next day, Annie and I went to the local park. Loretta and my dad wanted some alone time, which I had argued was useless in their marrige and they should just get divorced. They didn't like that idea.

"Can we get ice cream later?" Annie asked me on our way to the park.

"Maybe. I don't wanna stay out too long. You can't trust people these days." I told her.

"What do ya' mean?" She asked.

"Nothing." I sighed.

We got to the park and I sat on a bench, watching Annie swing on the swings, climb the rock wall, and go down the slides. She loved the park. I used to go the park everyday when I lived with my mom. I liked getting out of the house. The park there was much bigger than the one here in San Francisco. Annie wouldn't have liked it, it was for older kids. The one here is small and easy for some one as tiny as herself.

"Hello, deer. Mind if I sit by you?" I heard a man's voice ask me.

I looked up to see a tall man. He was extremely thin and pale. He had black hair that reached his shoulders. He had it pushed out of his face, reveailng his dark brown eyes. There was something off about him. I just knew it.

"Uhhh........" I tried to think of an excuse as to why I didn't want him sitting with me but I couldn't, so I just told him he could sit by me.

"I'm Adam." He smiled, as he sat down beside me on the bench.

"Leda." I introduced myself.

"What an interesting name!" Adam exclaimed.

"Thanks." I said.

I looked up but I couldn't see Annie anywhere. My heart began racing and I got a knot in my stomach.

"Annie!" I shouted, panic in my shaky voice.

"I'm over here!" I heard her small voice yell back.

I looked around and eventually saw her playing with a small girl near the basketball court. I felt every aspect of my body relax dramatically.

"Is that your sister?" Adam asked.

"Yeah." I nodded. I was so scared, I had forgotten he was sitting next to me.

"She's adorable." He said.

I nodded.

"So, are your parents here?" He asked.

I automatically jumped up and said, "They will be any minute. We better go wait for them."

"Nice meeting you!" Adam yelled, but I could barely hear him. I was too busy running over to Annie.

"We're leaving." I said to her, inturrepting her conversation with her new friend about how they wanna be princesses when they grow up.

"But sissy!" Annie whined.

"No buts!" I said. I grabbed her hand and dragged her away. I wanted to get out of there.
