Team 9

Yama's Test

AN: I decided to do this in two parts since I couldn't find time to finish it. hope this is long enough for part one.

Chapter 3: (Yama and Asuma's voices) Battle! Team 9 vs Team 10

Two hours have passed since the genin teams met their jounins, and we can now see teams 7 and 8 with their jounins, Kakashi Hatake and Kurenai Yuhi, a pale skinned, white haired man with a mask that covered the lower half of his face and with his forehead protector tilted in such a way that it covered his left eye and a red eyed, pale skinned, black haired woman. They are sitting on the floor of the training area number 9, which consisted of a small clearing in the forest with a few pieces of training equipment scattered throughout it, such as bullseye targets for shuriken and kunai throwing practice, as well as wooden dummies.

"Kakashi sensei, what are we doing here?" asked Sakura, and it was a good question too, considering that right after meeting their new sensei, who had been late by the way, Kakashi had urged them into this place in which they encountered an equally confused team 8.

"We are here to watch Asuma and Yama test their teams, apparently they decided to test them together" answered Kakashi

"Then why are WE here?" asked Kiba this time

"Maybe you'll learn a few things for your test tomorrow" Kurenai told her student

At that moment, Yama and a dark skinned, brown haired man known as Asuma Sarutobi, entered the training field from opposite sides of the clearing, with their respective teams in tow. Both teams seemed to be confused when they saw each other, as well as the other teams present.

"Yama sensei?" asked Mizu

"Oh right, I didn't tell you what we would be doing" at this, Yama scratched the back of his head in embarrassment "you see, out of the 30 students that graduated, only 12 will be allowed to become genin"

"WHAT?!" screamed his team

"Yeah that's how things are" was Yama's simple answer

"OK so what now?" asked Rai, apparently accepting his fate along with his teammates.

"That's why we are here" answered Yama "you see, each jounin has to test their team and determine if they pass or not, so me and Asuma over there, decided to do a joint test, with you and his team taking the same test at the same time"

"So if all doubts have been answered," said Asuma "we should start explaining the test" when no one objected, he continued "you see for this test, we have decided to make the two teams fight each other"

A silent moment passed when...

"WHAT?!" screamed the genin, including those on the sidelines

"But doesn't that mean that only the team that wins will pass?!" asked a shocked Ino

"I recommend you to fight with everything you got then" was all Asuma said

"What a drag..."murmured Shikamaru

"OK then, please stand with your respective team at opposite sides of the clearing" said Asuma, making both teams hurry to their positions, and once every one was ready he continued "Yama, if you would continue please"

"You'll start when I say 'go', OK?" when no one objected, he continued "alright then,...3..."

Both teams took a deep breath

"...2..."

The teams on the sidelines gulped

"...1..."
