Land of Waves

Chapter 5: (Naruto's voice) A Dangerous Mission! Journey to the Land of Waves!

We are now with team 7 at the Hokage's office, having just finished their mission: catching a cat. True, it was the Fire Damayo's wife's cat Tora, but still a cat. So I guess you can imagine the genins' frustration, especially Naruto's. It only grew even more when they heard the new missions in store for them which went from gardening to taking care of a baby. Of course, Naruto wasn't happy and wasn't afraid of showing it. After a brief skirmish, the Hokage agreed to let them go on a C-rank mission: protecting the bridge builder Tazuna while he returned to his homeland and finished building his bridge. As soon as they left the Hokage sighed.

"I hope I made the right decision..." he said

"Lord Hokage, if I may..." said Iruka, pausing until Hiruzen nodded " I believe it would be safer if we send another genin team with them, just to be sure"

"And who would you recommend for this'" said the Third

"I would recommend Team 9 Lord Third" answered the chunin

"And why's that?"

"Well they have already proved that they are pretty capable, remember that they managed to successfully drive that pack of wolfs from the village" answered the Academy teacher, referring to when Yama's team had managed to scare away wolfs that were attacking some civilians in the village's outskirts. (Beat The Wolves Back Instance)

"Alright then, I shall send them as well, go inform their sensei" decided the Hokage

"Hai" answered Iruka before shunshining away

Team 7 and Tazuna were standing before the village's gates with Naruto getting restless 

"Why are we still here?! Shouldn't we get going already?!" he asked his sensei

"We're waiting for the other team to come" 

"Other team?!"

"Lord Hokage saw fit, since you're still genins, to send another team with us since they already did a C Rank before" explained the jounin

"How come they've already done a C-rank?!" asked Sakura this time

"It was supposed to be a D-rank, simply help a few farmers keep watch of their animals but, turns out, they were attacked by wolves and ended up beating them back"

"I guess that's okay then..." mumbled the pink haired girl

"Hey guys!" a voice said behind them

They turned around to see Team 9, with Kasai being the one who called out to them.

"So you're the ones that will be coming with us? Awesome!" said Naruto, suddenly not all that bothered

"Yep" was Rai's short reply

"Alright then, let's set off" said Kakashi

"Yes please" added Tazuna

And so, both teams set off into what they hoped was a nice and simple escort mission...the poor fools.

They kept walking, Kakashi in the front and Yama at the back, the genin surrounding Tazuna in the middle. Naruto was animately talking to Rai, who had his nose stuck on a book, Mizu and Sakura were talking to each other quietly, and Kasai and Sasuke were silent as they walked.

"Hey Rai" said Naruto

"Yeah?" answered Rai absentmindedly

"What were those moves you guys used during your test?" the blond asked, drawing the attention of the other genin
