Ally's p.o.v

I stayed after school to study my courses. I sat in the cafeteria alone reading notes and listened to the videos I took in class. I slept in my English class and had my phone record the teacher's voice. It was hard trying to listen to Mr. S because Max kept taking my phone and recorded himself. I looked over at my phone to see that he was recording me sleeping. He was laughing and got everyone laughing too. I skipped to the part where I could hear the teacher talking but he was scolding Max about how he's interrupting the class. He looks at the teacher and formed a gun with his hands and pretended to shoot him and say "My bad, sir" and remained quiet for the whole hour.

I dozed off and only realized that I did when Max yelled my name, causing the people who were in the cafeteria to look at him and who he was calling. I gave a smile and he gave me one.

"Hey," I said taking off my earphones. I started packing my binders and folders into my backpack.

Max sat down next to me. "Hey, how are you?"

"Good," I told him.

As my pencil started rolling towards him, I asked him "How are you?" I traced my hand to get my pencil. Right when I had it, he gently placed his hand on top of mine.

I looked at him, smiling at me he says "Better. Now that you're here"

---

"Yes, what can I get you?" Lily asked.

"I'd like a medium vanilla iced coffee no cream or sugar and a bagel, please" I replied to her giving her three pounds.

She entered my order in the computer "Would that be all?"

"No. Double the order Lily, please and thank you," Max said. He handed Lily six pounds, took my three pounds and handed to me.

"Dinner's on me," Max said.

I looked at him and rested my arm on the counter "Really? You call this dinner?" I giggled giving him a worried look.

"Uh yuh. It's bagel and coffee with no cream or sugar" He yelped.

I rolled eyes at him. It only made him laugh. "Dinner for you would be either candy, bacon bits or pizza."

"Can a guy not eat a bagel and drink coffee?!" He exclaimed.

"You can but since when did you?" I asked raising an eyebrow.

"Here you go" Lily handed us the drinks. Max took both of the drinks and I took the two bagels from the counter.

"Thank you," I added.

We walked over to an empty table and gently placed our food on the table.

"Want to crash to my place? I was thinking since you're mom isn't home you might want some company, and Tilly has been missing you." Max addressed.

"Are you sure it's Tilly who's missing me?" I asked I took a sip of my iced coffee. I can sense the caffeine kicking in.

"Oh nevermind. It's Leo and Harvey. Tilly doesn't like you at all" he boasted. He took his bagel with cream and took a bit. He gestured for me to take a bite. I took the bagel, took a bite and handed it back to him.

"Oh, Tilly does not hate me. I see Harvey every day and Leo is almost never home, of course, he would miss me. I miss him too." I mocked him and forming a heart with my two hands. "Who else misses me"

"Leo isn't home." He added closing his eyes.

"So no one misses me? What's the point of crashing at your place if no one misses me" I asked.

He sighed "I- I miss you." and pouted his face. He took a long sip from his iced coffee and then grinned at me.

"You drive us to my house first. I need my pillow, blanket, sweatpants, and sweatshirt. If I have my hood on, don't talk to me. Thanks, Max." I said blowing him a kiss and handing him my car keys.

"Fine" He whined. "I don't really want to drive though..."

"Hurry up. We need to go buy some ice cream." I stood up, finishing my bagel and then taking my ice coffee with me.

"What?! I thought we were going home" he asked.

I grinned at him. "Can a girl not change her mind?"

---

I was at the right end of the couch and Max was on the left end of the couch. We had the T.V turned on watching Happy Death Day. He wasn't talking to me, probably because I have my hood up and was eating ice cream. He has his own bucket, but he wasn't enjoying it.

"Are you going to eat that?" I asked waving my spoon at the lemon ice cream.

"If you want it, you can have it." He said with a sad tone.

Fudge. I think he's sad because I want his ice cream. "Are you sad? That I want your ice cream?"

He stared at the T.V not making any eye contact with me. I questioned myself if I did something wrong.

"No..." He began. "It's just. I don't think anyone wants me."

I started laughing silently. "It's not funny, Ally"

This must be serious. "I'm sorry for laughing. You don't know that nobody wants you. At least one person has to be thinking about you right now. Could be your mom, dad, Tilly, Leo or Harvey. Should I keep going? Or Kim, Emily or Nathan or Dobby."

He let out a small smile. "I meant like... emotionally. I want someone to love and I want someone to me."

"You'll find the right person at the right time, Max" I replied.

Max looked at me eating my ice cream. "How will I know who the right person is?"

I saw him open his ice cream and took out his spoon. "I don't know... but I'm sure you'll find her."

"Thanks, Ally" He smiled with both his eyes closed.

"You should get some sleep, Max," I said taking away his ice cream.

"No" Max demanded. We don't have school tomorrow and it's Friday. You just want my ice cream"

I laughed and he took his ice cream back. "True but I like mine better. It's red velvet. Can't top that"

"Mine is lemon. YOU can't top that." He tested.

"Uh, I just did" I clarified.

We both started laughing. He placed his ice cream on the floor. I knew what he was going to do. "Oh no. Max no. I have my hood on. Remember what I said"

"Yea I remember you said. You said that "If I have my hood on, don't talk to me." and you were just talking to me and you never said to touch you." Max noted.

I placed my ice cream on the floor. He got on top of me and start tickling me. "Max stop!" I silently screamed.

I heard footsteps from the stairs. "Can you guys keep it down. Please" Harvey said rubbing his left eye. It's late.

Harvey was right. It was getting late. I didn't even bother to check the time. "Sorry, Harvey," I said as I walk up to him. I kissed his forehead. "Good Night Harvey."

He relaxed and had a huge smile on his face with his eyes closed. He went back upstairs with the same look.

I looked back at Max. He turned off the T.V causing the room to be silent. I went back to the couch and made myself comfortable. Taking my blanket, I spread it to cover me. Max nudged my foot with his foot. "Max, go to your room" I insisted.

"No thank you. I'm fine where I am." Max said closing his eyes, trying to fall asleep.

I took my blanket and covered him. I went upstairs to get myself another one from his room. Max's room smelled like him. I took the blanket from his bed and paced myself back to the couch to see him already sleeping.
