As we walked down the hallway towards our lockers, I told my best friend everything that happened this morning as she tried to contain her giggles and failing. We reached our lockers and she still wasn't able to stop her uncontrollable giggling. "Charlotte, weren't you supposed to take care of something? You told me it's very important." Hearing this, she immediately stopped. "Oh! The thing! Thanks for reminding me, friend." She clumsily got her things as she looked at a clock nearby. "Uh oh, it's already starting! I'm sorry Alice, but I won't be able to attend the remaining classes." I wonder what she's up to this time... Charlotte's always off doing whatever, always missing classes and manages to get away with it, and no one but she herself knows what she always dismisses as "something very important".

She always manages to trigger my curiosity, that's one of the things Charlotte's the best at. I sighed. She said she would reveal to everyone someday, but I've always been impatient, and she knows, so she promised I'll be the very first person she'll reveal it to. 'But promises are made to be broken..' I shook the negative thought out of my mind. "Alright, let's hope the professors don't mind." I said. "They never do, don't worry." She replied as she gave me a wink and turned to leave. I waved at her as she ran past the other students, blond hair bouncing as she does, off to who knows where doing who knows what. I sighed and turned my attention back to preparing my things for my next class, thinking of when I learnt that skipping class was illegal, or was that something else? I struggled to remember. I was always forgetful, for some reason.

As I was finishing, I heard a familiar voice call my name. "Oh, hi James. How are you?" I greeted, smiling at the presence of a friend. "You look happy today, did she-who-shall-not-be-named trip down the stairs?" He laughed a bit at this. "Hah, I wish, but that's not it." He paused, waiting for me to take another guess. I was confused for a bit, but a beaming and slightly blushing James could mean one thing. "She talked to you?!" I asked with sparkles in my wide eyes. He nodded quite excitedly, which was completely out of character.

"You know, she was with me a while back," I said. "But right now she's off doing this "very important thing", like always." James groaned at this. "That means we won't get to see each other for a whole day!" I let out a sigh. "Stop whining. You should get used to it. Don't expect her to take breaks from this project she's been working on for a long time for you, believe me, I've tried. You've gotta talk to her first, earn her trust and never break it, you'll get a better chance." He huffed slightly at my unnecessary advice, which I gave a million times before. Just becuz. "Yes, ma'am." He mocked. I ruffled his hair and said "good boy." I laughed at his pathetic attempt to fix his hair, as he shot glares at me. "Aren't you going to tell me what you talked about?" I asked after he was able to make his hair look presentable again. "No, that's classified information, thank you very much." He replied as he gave a grin that I wanted to wipe off his smug face. The corners of my mouth travelled downwards and formed a frown, along with my eyebrows forming a v-shape. James noticed this and instead of declaring he was joking he just laughed. I gave him a glare that I hope will haunt him for the rest of his days. "I'll ask her tomorrow!" I declared.

'I don't really like it when people who's close to me don't tell me things sometimes, I know I should respect their privacy, I do most of the time, but my curiosity takes over, and sometimes pushes the limit and makes everything bad or worse. Despite my age and reputation, I'm not very mature in some departments. But hey, I'm fourteen and learning, I'm trying my best, in one way or another. My friends think I'm improving, somehow. I wish I've got more will-power to live up to what they say to me..'

I didn't realize I zoned out again, lost in thought. James' voice woke me up. "Uh.. Alice? Hello? Ugh, come on, not again. Alice! Wake up!" He was practically shouting at me so I grabbed his hands which were shaking my shoulders a little too much. "Woah, you're giving me a bit of a headache there." Hearing me speak somehow eased him and he released his grip on my shoulders, as I released my grip on his wrists. "You spaced out again." He said. I sighed. "I'm sorry, James. I'll try not to next time, ok? You don't have to worry." He gave me a nod. "Okay," James said, after a while. "Can we go now?" I glanced at a clock, which was the same clock Charlotte looked at a while back. It was 14 minutes before the next period starts. "Yeah, we should. I didn't notice the time." I said apologetically. "You never do." He joked. I gave a huff and followed my friend to our next class, we like going to class early, it gives us more time to chat and prepare.

We were walking passed the other students and I found myself walking slower when we pass by windows. I glanced at this one particular window, which had the perfect view of the sky, and stopped to look. The sky was very pretty, and I walked a bit closer towards the window for I was standing in the middle of the road of rushing students. James probably stopped to wait for me, but I never looked in front of me to make sure. Instead I kept staring at the sky, not paying any attention to the people who were calling me a 'nature-freak'. I sighed after I realized I was staring for too long, and that I needed to get to class. I rejoined James and glanced back for a bit at the window. James laughed and I turned my head towards him curiously. "Are you sure you're crushing on him? It seems you're already in love with the sky." He said. I scoffed and quickly looked around to see if anyone heard. The other students seem to be distressed with their own business to even look this way, and I sighed in relief.

Little did I know, a boy with messy black hair took his time walking to glance at me, much like what I did, when I was staring into the sky. He sighed in adoration and continued walking, smiling slightly to himself... but I did notice, little did he know. I'm pretty observant for a person who dazes off a lot.
