Chapter I: Disaster Averted

Missile Launch Site in North Korea

April 20th, 2017 11:30 pm Pyongyang Time

It was a calm night in the communist nation. The roads were practically deserted, the square was empty. All was right within the city. Outside however, trouble was afoot. Along a long and winding road, there were multiple trucks making their way towards a large structure. Something was about to go down.

At the structure, soldiers piled out of the trucks and lined up in front of the center truck. Seconds later, the doors of the truck were opened, and out stepped their president. He was short and plump, but well dressed wearing a suit and tie. He walked past the soldiers and towards the control tower. Shortly after, a tall woman followed behind him. The two then spoke in Korean. "All systems are on standby. The rocket has been prepped for launch. You just have to say the words." Shortly after, the president gave the commands.

Moments later, large missiles rose out of the ground, and the countdown for the launch began. There were soldiers covering every angle. The head soldier the checked in with each squad. "Quadrant 1, check in." Soldiers then responded "All clear control." He then checked in with each, until something went awry. "Quadrant 4 check in." There was nothing but static. The head soldier then warned the ground teams "Stay on guard. Someone's trying to sabotage this launch." On the ground, soldiers stayed on constant watch. There was only one minute until the launch would begin.

Suddenly, there was a blast of smoke. The soldiers scrambled to cover the control. In the smoke, there was a shadow with ice blue lights. Soldiers started to shoot at the shadow, but it would quickly dodge each bullet. Suddenly, the shadow shot back in a blast of blue light. The soldier was frozen solid in ice. The soldiers kept shooting only to be frozen right after, until there was only one left. He held his gun forward, paralyzed with fear, until the shadow emerged from the smoke. He wore a black and white suit, and a white mask. His hands were covered by ice blue gloves. The shadow snatched the gun from the terrified soldier, and quickly dismantled it. The icy shadow then pushed the soldier off to the side. "We're on the clock fellas. It's only a matter of seconds before they find out what's happening. Keep them busy for me. Multiple soldiers then followed into the area, only to be electrocuted upon crossing a threshold. From behind a wooden post, another shadow in blue was touching the metal plates that ran across the outside of the field. "How much time do we have left Sapphire?" the blue shadow asked. Sapphire then opened the panel and saw that the countdown had reached 30 seconds. "Not long." He said. "Cover me." Suddenly, a wall of rock rose around Sapphire and the control panel. Sapphire then grabbed the soldier and spoke in Korean. "How do I stop it?" The soldier then replied "There's no stopping it." Sapphire then said "This thing is gonna kill everyone on the ground if you don't tell me how. You've got 10 seconds." The soldier said nothing, so Sapphire then acted on his own. His arm the expanded to reveal a robotic endoskeleton. It then converted into a cannon. He shot the cannon at the control panel, freezing it in solid ice. The timer then stopped with only 2 seconds left. "Missile disarmed. IATO is cleared for an attack. We need to go. Ruby, get the jet in low." Stone said. Amber than interrupted and said "What about these guys? You didn't have me KO them just to leave them to die." Bluestone then replied "They're out of our hands now. We stabilized the situation, IATO decides what happens to them from here." Bluestone replies. Ruby then comes on the intercom and said "I'm about 5 minutes out. Stay where you are!" The four of them then head towards a second tower for pickup.

Inside the control tower, there was mass pandemonium. "The missile launch has been sabotaged. We must be next." The tall woman said. "We must abandon the base. Bring the chopper around." All the remaining soldiers then grabbed everything around them and prepared to go to the roof. Meanwhile, on the parallel tower, the Elites were waiting for their ride to arrive when they saw the helicopter fly in. "They're gonna get away." Amber said. Sapphire then pulled a gun from his right holster. "No, they're not." He said as he shot a steel cable from the gun. He then took the other end of the cable and wedged it into the floor. He then ran across the tightrope towards the helicopter. Soldiers then started shooting at him as he got closer. Just as the helicopter took off, Sapphire was struck in the chest by a bullet. He then started to fall towards the ground when suddenly he shot a hook into the helicopter that pulled him back up. The cable holding the hook got tangled on the president's leg as it grappled to the ceiling. When Sapphire yanked on the cord, he was pulled out of the helicopter. Sapphire then swung around and caught him as he fell, and tossed him through the window of the control tower.

A few moments after the president gained consciousness, he grabbed a nearby gun. When Sapphire turned the corner, he shot at him. Sapphire quickly hid behind the desks. In Korean, he then said "If you're lucky, you'll die tonight." The president then continued to shoot at wherever he was hiding. "But you have something we need first." This time the voice came from behind him. The president quickly turned around and shot at the wall. "Where are you? You sneaky bastard. You know nothing of what's coming." He then walked backwards and bumped into Sapphire and said "I do know that you're out of bullets." The president then pulled the trigger, and nothing came out. He then tried to pistol whip Sapphire, but his hand was grabbed and near instantly was tossed into the wall. Sapphire then plugged a small drive into the computer. "Your friends will bring an end to your world as you know it. I am not your enemy." Sapphire then replied "I don't care. You were hiding something from us. You almost started a third world war with that stunt back there." The president then looked to the right and saw another gun. He slowly reached for it and said "Your country was going to attack first. We had to strike. There was no other way." The president then turned the 2nd gun on Sapphire, only for his entire hand to be frozen to the wall. "I could kill you right now. And I really want to. But I'll just let your nuke do the work." Sapphire then turned his intercom back on and said "Guys the launch was stalled but the nuke is still set to go off in 2 minutes." Ruby then replied "I'm already here. Zach get your head out of your ass and let's jet." Sapphire then ran out and took the drive with him. On the roof, a small aircraft was hovering above. Sapphire then climbed in and they all fled. "What happened to tubby? We're supposed to bring him in." Ruby asked. "Sapphire then said "He pulled a gun on himself after the launch failed. I was too late. But I did get the intel... Computer, activate Oxygen Filtration. We're about to get caught in the middle of a nuclear explosion."

Seconds later, the stalled missile detonated, incinerating everything in sight. The Elites' jet was barely able to outfly the blast, but was not the cloud of radiation. Seconds later, they received a message on the console. "It's from D.C." Bluestone said. "It says 'Congratulations on your rousing success in North Korea. You have all earned a brief break. You're cleared for landing at our air field in Honolulu, Hawaii. You'll report to our Base in DC at 4pm EST. See you soon Elites. Director Liam Pirce." Ruby then said "Guess we're finally getting that Hawaii vacation we've always wanted. Guys." Bluestone then took off his mask. He had dark skin, black hair and blue eyes. Everyone else followed. Amber was light skinned, with dirty blonde hair and green eyes. Ruby was fair skinned, with brown hair and reddish-brown eyes. Stone had light skin, dark brown hair and gold eyes. Sapphire had light skin, blonde hair, and ice blue eyes. The Elites then changed course and headed to Hawaii.
