My eyes traveled out the window and gazed at the beautiful land. My older brother, Jacob, tapped his foot against the floor of the wagon. "Are you guys excited?" My mother spoke up.

"Why did we have to move?" Jacob asked.

"I've told you this already Jacob,"

"This sucks," Jacob isn't really happy about us moving. He had a girlfriend back in our small village. Susie Lolli, everyone loved her. She was really pretty, and kind. Jacob had to break up with her when we were told we were moving. Two weeks ago we would've never expected to be moving, but here we are. I cried when I had to say goodbye to my best friend, Katie. She was lovely.

My mother has told us that we were moving because she wanted a change of scenery, but my brothers and I really know why. My father had an affair with another woman during the summer, and my mother is really sad about it. She would see him everywhere, and she decided to move.

"Thank you, sir," My mother said to the man that brought us to our new home in Avonlea. She handed him some money before bringing us inside.

I stepped inside and my eyes immediately searched the house. As you walk in there is a small entryway and then you walk down to be met by a beautiful red living room and then the kitchen. There are stairs in the living room leading upstairs. David and Jacob ran upstairs calling their rooms first. I ran behind them and ended up with the smallest room. I didn't really want a big room anyway. The walls are painted white and there is one big window letting in all the light in the room. I looked out my window to see a boy sitting on his porch cleaning his shoes. He looks around my age. As I was looking outside I noticed some flowers that would be perfect for my room.

I pulled on a jacket and then headed outside. I walked in the opposite direction of the boy. I headed a little left and then I spotted them. The two roses sat there and stared at me as I tried to figure out how to grab them without being pricked by one. The waiting got annoying so I picked one of them. I felt my finger sting but I went ahead and grabbed the other rose. I held both of the flowers in my hand and smiled. I ran back to the house. When I got back I kicked off my shoes and put away my jacket. I searched the boxes of our things to find a vase. I found a simple white vase. I filled the vase with water, and then I carefully brought the flowers upstairs. I placed the vase next to my bed. I smiled at my roses. I looked down at my hand to see that my finger was bleeding. Once I finally found a band-aid I wrapped it around my finger.

//

"What happened to your finger?" My mother asked me as we ate breakfast.

"I went out yesterday and picked some roses for my room," I explained and she nodded. David trudged down the stairs and groaned. David's always hated school. My mother shot him a look as he sat down and he just rolled his eyes. I finished eating my toast and placed the plate in the sink. After putting away my plate, I went upstairs into my room to get ready.

I tied my light brown hair into a low ponytail and left out a few strands by my ears since they pulled tight on my face when I left them in the ponytail. I fixed the white bow and sprayed some of the perfume that my mother had gotten me for my birthday. I headed into the bathroom and brushed my teeth. I walked out of the bathroom and back into my bedroom. I smiled at my roses and grabbed my books. I headed downstairs and called out to my mother that I was leaving for school.

The leaves crunched under my feet as I made my way to school. I kicked some of the leaves. I hummed and danced a little bit as I walked along the path. I spun once and then felt like I was falling. Then I was caught by some strong arms.

"Woah are you alright?" He asked. My eyes met his and I recognized him. It's the boy I saw from my window last night.

"Yeah I'm fine," I blushed. I brushed off my dress and began walking down the path once more.

"Miss!" The boy called, "wait who are you?" He jogged up next to me.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"I asked first," He stated.

"Fine I'm Evelyn," I started, "Evelyn Harris,"

"I'm Gilbert," He smiled, "Gilbert Blythe,"

I'm rewriting this whole story..um what??? Yeah, so I basically thought I would rewrite this whole story because a year ago my writing sucked and I feel like the idea was so good and I could rewrite it so much better. As you can tell the story is going to be pretty much the same. The same things are going to happen but other things will happen and yeahhhh new writing skills. I'm also hoping to make it longer than just eight chapters so yeeeee. I hope yall like this better lmao I might be making a bad decision but who cares ig
